RE: want a free copy of WITE?

<t> That's why I always defended the idea that Toaw must go in the direction of flexibility rather than specialization. It will never compete with specialized engines. A lot of them are better than Toaw in doing specific scenarios. Toaw survived until these days for being able to represent different ...

I don't remember if it was Larry, but someone suggested a graphical note layer (for things like sketching plans and marking combat results etc), which I think is a wonderful idea, but I'm sure it's something very difficult to implement with Toaw's ...

RE: Combat calculation?

<t> Overall it's a sound system. Some flaws are found here or there, sometimes. It's natural, since with such a complex system, it's difficult to put to test all possible combinations and since the number of varibles is large, sometimes we attribute to one variable results that are due to another ...

RE: Combat calculation?

<t> That's the point! The attacking unit is getting a benefit on the example we're discussing (at least, if the cause is really that which was stated). Here, in any case (attacker in the same terrain or in the open), defenders should get the precision bonus, since they are deployed in an urban ...

<t> In fact, from the contact I had with Ralph while implementing the graphics mod, I could infer that he is pretty independent in what concerns his thoughts on Toaw future, while being very receptive to ideas. <t> Panama, I've already changed the fonts to make it cleaner in the normal view. I'll not say it isn't possible to make it still more readable using only black pixels and displaying jaggy edges, but the difference would be very, very small and not worth it. Josh, it took me about one month (when I had some extra spare time available) to do most of it. The last month I`ve been adding some details, while Ralph was tweaking the engine and making it possible to use all features.

That`s it! You`ll notice I have chosen rounded shapes for escarpments, dug in symbol, etc, in order not to denounce the hex pattern when with hex outline off. Shapes integrate better with terrain features and look more organic.
