i tryed to tell you for years but my nature prevented me from spelling it out until now. maybe the defensive fire setting will get a think for a lot of folk now...i hope it really helps.

in my experience i have found in both play modes that taking shots without good reason is a major shortcoming in players. ai is worse although i dont know the vietnam ai all that well yet CS is basically a game of movement! what i have seen in MEETING engagements are ai tanks being totally reckless and with out any guile drive into flame thrower ambushes or at fire, in the scenario the agony of doom 2 the enemy tanks (defender to boot) counterattacked very aggressively with all its tigers at a time when better choices ...

there ia fine line between realism and fun. i dont find it fun in any fight i cant hide in to defend, i find it loathsome to be assighed an attack with much the same cheers

The issue still exists in win 11. I discovered it by reading this thread. Thanks to those that found workarounds.

yeah it uses the command rules straight out of the rulebook with the added fog of war. ie no ? counters. I think the game can take both systems...out of los fog of war and suspect counters against ai desighned stuff and more traditional scn for ftf

it sounds to me that the game is doing fine. and is thinking ahead. orel is a dangerous place for Russians in spring summera and since he so close to Moscow it makes things uncomfortable for Russian as long as german continues to play consistently.
