RE: Tocaff vs bigred

<t> interesting points about Malaria tocaff. These are a couple of things I found browsing on internet. "Japan's shortage of natural resources, especially oil for mechanized warfare, was a major factor in its decision to secure the virtually undefended resources of southeast Asia. Among the ...

RE: a couple of questions.

<t> yes thank you both. I am sure in game terms the AI is not doing anything wrong, It's just my own feeling that if you consider a "box" of three or four carriers with a defending circle of destroyers and cruisers, then probably the carriers would be operating with 2 NM between them and the escorts ...

a couple of questions.

<t> I have only played against the computer so far. One thing that I find curious is that it often sends a CV task force into New Georgia Sound. The sea room there is rather restricted and the charts were not of the best ( I know that from personal experience because I sailed through the Coral Sea ...

RE: sea combat blocks

what actually happens is that when the surface combat screen opens first in the box below there is a message which is unrelated (such as SS damaged or routine convoy returns). Then as the music starts it seems to get caught in a loop and never quite completes the series of musical notes.

RE: sea combat blocks

well I can't seem to get a response either here or from the matrix tech support. A pity because I enjoy the game, but have been forced to avoid creating PT boats for example because they never work in surface combat.

sea combat blocks

I wrote directly to support but did not get a reply. When there is combat between taskforces the screen often blocks and eventually the whole game blocks. What could be the cause? I have Vista by the way.

air support-question to editor

<t> Have you thought about the idea of allowing shore bases to provide airsupport (CAP) to naval forces in range. When my task forces are limping back to port it would be nice. There is one other thing which I have never quite worked out and I may be being stupid. If I have planes on CAP presumably ...

aircraft transfers

<t> In a two carrier scenario when one carrier goes down the other planes are shown as transferring and are not lost at the end of the game even though the other carrier is sunk. Do you assume that they refuel and fly to some hypothetical land base? Also if they land on the other carrier can they be ...

a bit of feedback

<t> I think the game is excellent as an exercise in learning more about the Pacific War. I seem to spend all my time looking for squalls, which was as effect that I had never realised was so important. <br/>
Playing the Americans I find the two great battles of Midway and Coral Sea are the most ...

RE: combat damage effects

You may be right but then when I click on the results page the ship is shown as sunk. Might it be that the screen shows the results of all the attacks in the 5 minute period?

Coral Sea- playing the japanese

<t> I am new to this so probably there is something I don't understand but I found playing the Japanese against AI easy. The AI happily launched the full Yorktown carrier force against the Tulagi resupply, which left it wide open to my two carrier strike. Apart from anything else I had no reason to ...
