Feel for the blokes off duty - especially that poor bloke who just sat down in the head!

RE: How do you relate to the two branches of Harpoon?

I've managed to use the Winharp scenario editor to extract the Dawn Patrol scenario from the GIUK battleset. My question is: is it permissible to post it? It's copyrighted, after all.

Any of the mods want to fill us in?

RE: Docking ships?

<r> ... and the second part of the above message. The on station rect in this version of the SE is in what looks to be a more appropriate spot:<br/>

RE: Docking ships?

<r> For a bit of historical reference, here's the result of the same investigation using the very early (floppies dated 1992) SE, version 1.01, included with 360's "Harpoon Signature Edition":<br/>

RE: Thinking of buying...couple questions

<t> I tend to think the same as CV32 - Harpoon's quite easy to pick up, and I could only assume that having a military background like yours would make it even easier.<br/>
<br/>
The tutorial scenarios, and the tutorials/walkthrough in the manual were how I learnt Harpoon many versions ago. They ...

RE: Docking ships?

<t> Yeah, I thought the box was in a strange position... so much so that I re-loaded the scenario again from the Battleset, in case I'd done something stupid and accidentally moved it. It was still in that position, though.<br/>

RE: Docking ships?

<r> Just had a look in Winharp's SE:<br/>
<br/>
NATO minimum victory:<br/>
<br/>
1 x ships of class ID MRCH on station<br/>
Num killed: 1<br/>
<br/>
I've attached a compound pic of the relevant SE windows.<br/>

Small DB error - WestPac, MRCH Fishing Vessel

<r> G'day,<br/>
<br/>
Was just browsing through the Platform Display (great fun, can spend an hour plus there easily), and came across what might be an error in the WestPac battleset.<br/>
<br/>
The MRCH Fishing Vessel has a stated length of 200 metres (!), but weighs only 1,800 tons and has 40 ...

RE: Minor question re: downloaded vs. boxed versions

Thanks everyone - I appreciate your replies. Think I'll just jump in and buy the downloaded version.

I've been following this game since I was first given a copy of the first Harpoon (for DOS) years ago... this thing's as addictive as anything you can name!

Minor question re: downloaded vs. boxed versions

<t> G'day,<br/>
<br/>
Just to set my mind at ease - will there be any difference in data content between the downloadable and boxed versions of the game? For instance, will the CD in the boxed version come with additional maps, battlesets, etc.?<br/>
<br/>
(The read-between-the-lines question is ...
