RE: just waiting on the monthly report

<t> Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Steve. I'm astonished at the depth and sophistication of what you've been able to develop on this project, and the countless hours of hard work put forward by you and your supports in the community to make it as good as it can possibly be.<br/>

Hahaha, outstanding thread! Ah, the glory days of five years ago when the Matrix guys last bothered to post. Nothing from them since then, a void that speaks volumes about their interest in the project.<br/>

RE: Console

<t> In terms of general gaming users, I wouldn't be in the least surprised to discover the proportions were pretty much as Skanvak described. Certainly game uit sales for concoles far outstrip any PC gaming titles. While I suspect the ratio shifts dramatically when you talk about users interested in ...

<r> I think we've strayed sufficiently off-topic here. Any chance we can get the conversation back to Matrix, and MWIF?<br/>

For example, I've been very pleased with the fair and honest discussion of ideas and issues in the development of the game so far. Granted, it's prior to release, and ...

RE: When?

<t> 1. I am surely disappointed that MWIF hasn't been released before this, just as is everyone on this forum, no doubt. I'd wager there are also a great many people who may not even realize this project exists, but who have long wished for a great WWII strategy game to play on the computer.<br ...

Patrice found 700+ radio clips from WW II (MP3 format). I don’t know about copyright issues (and MP3 format) with using these radio clips though.

RE: What kind of manual(s) should we ask for?

Being able to search the manual online will help in that regard, Michel, but I know what you mean. There's also the opportunity within the online text to hotlink related topics, as well as sections of the player guide that help explain the rules and what they mean.

RE: What kind of manual(s) should we ask for?

<t> Thanks, Steve - I knew there was a lot of effort going into this stuff, and you're right: there *is* no simple way of explaining the intricacies of WiF to a new player. I raised the question only insofar as I'm hoping the finished product will be as workable for new players as possible; sounds ...

This is all very useful... and very technical. But I can't help wondering whether a player manual of this sort will represent a barrier for people not used to the peculiar subset of the english language that is a technical manual. (Basically, anyone who is not a) a grognard ...

<t> First, a confession: I only ever played WiF 4th edition (along with DoD, SiF and PiF, and the Scandinavia and Africa maps), so my thoguhts on WiF are of necessity waaaaay out of date. Similarly, I only ever played the original DoD - but we always included DoD with our WiF games because of the ...

OT - Any recommended wargames for Vista or Mac? (also some handy help running Illustrator on Vista!)

<t> Just looking to slake my wargaming thirst and fill the time prior to the release of MWIF. I've got a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.5, and (God help me!) a partition running Windows Vista. The overwhelming majority of titles appear to be written for XP, except of course for even older titles that ...
