I'm game. Pick your scenario. I'm open to adjustments to give the Germans a better chance.

RE: Of Course Not, The Entire Game Is An Anti-German Design [8D] - Bread (Axis) vs Beethoven (Soviet)

<t> If the game is going to be historically accurate, there can hardly be any way for the German player to win early. <br/>
<br/>
Historically, Stalin "played" badly for the first year, but the Soviet Union won anyhow. Players will not make so many mistakes, not with hindsight being 20-20 and all ...

RE: Looking for mirror games either GC41 or StoB

We would play two games. Each of us would have the Axis for one game and the Soviets for the other.

RE: Game results - Tell us how your 1 player game ended

<t> I have forgotten my opponent name. A reasonable player but new to this particular game engine. Scenario Stalingrad to Berlin; I took Soviets. House rule: I would pass on turn 1. <br/>
<br/>
This gave him the chance to pull back and avoid the destruction of 6 Army. But it wasn't remotely enough ...

RE: Panzers vs The Bear: A WitE2 MP AAR (Soviet Perspective)

<t> Going from history and from my experience in a playtest match, the Germans are likely to recover enough to mount a 1942 summer offensive. They don't win even if they take Moscow in 1942, but they can win by taking Stalingrad and Baku. So as the Soviets, it's a good idea to prepare to defend the ...

Looking for Axis opponent Stalingrad to Berlin. FOW, HQ locked. One level advantage to Axis, or Soviets to pass on turn 1, your choice. Open to house rules.

<t> I had a game of WITE that arrived at a situation not too terribly different from where you are now. I came within a hair of losing before rallying and pulling out a win. The thing that took me by surprise was how bad Soviet supply and morale get in early 1942. Defenses that would have been ...

<t> That depends what period of the war you're talking about. The Lvov-Sandomir Soviet offensive of July 1944 is a good example. <br/>
<br/>
The Germans were well dug in. They had 16 Pz, 17Pz, and 20 PzG in reserve. They had chosen their terrain well. They got reinforcements during the battle ...

RE: Axis taking Stalingrad.

<t> Maybe it just can't be done. A supplied stack of 3 guards rifle corps each supported by sapper regiments and a mix of antitank and flak can probably hold against any possible Axis attack. <br/>
<br/>
But if the Soviets have less than that to defend with, I'd think first you'd want top ...

RE: Razing the Reich II (no Manstein63)

<t> paras can be swapped 3 for one gds rifle division at some point in 1942. Until then, they're just good rifle brigades, but they might be useful in reserve as well as for babysitting forts. And if you ever need some guards rifle divisions right quick, and you have those brigades, there's your ...

RE: The Great Patriotic War (STE78 vs 821bobo)

<t> I expect the Germans can hold the draw, what with lower Soviet morale for 1944 and 1945, higher German morale, and truck shortages that plague the Soviets. <br/>
<br/>
A careful German defender can mix determined stands on one sector, backed by plenty of Panzers, with flexible defense and ...

RE: September 1943

In 1943 you need to form as many guards rifle corps as possible. These eventually move up to high-morale monsters. Give each 3 support units; two sapper regiments and one different. Perhaps an SU, perhaps Hvy Tank, perhaps flamethrower bn. It will depend.

RE: Another World : AAR Soviet Stelteck Vs German Pelton (No Pelton Zone)

<t> Your defenses are pretty thin down South. When you go over to the defense, and mid-Feb would be a good time for that, you'll need to rebalance your setup. As things now stand, if it were summer, the German would drive a deep wedge into your defenses between Rostov and Kursk. Your whole line on ...

RE: Another World : AAR Soviet Stelteck Vs German Pelton (No Pelton Zone)

<t> Judging from a game I played (no AAR for it), 1942 is a very dangerous year for the Soviets. Expect to find that your units are next to worthless on defense, that supply is short, and that morale is just pitiful. <br/>

<t> Here's a thought about "sudden death". <br/>
<br/>
Let's take it as a given that the Soviet Union wasn't going to collapse unless the Germans got to, oh, say, Gorki. And probably not even then. <br/>

Stalin couldn't be sure of that, and Hitler was hoping for a collapse. This means that ...

RE: Kicked butt and still lost

<t> Garrison points are the game's way of prompting the German player to conform to Hitler's determination to guard everything and to keep a mobile reserve. In hindsight, the Germans could hardly have done worse, and probably would have had much more success, if they had gambled and stacked up on ...
