RE: Are their any House Rules for Tactical Battles?

<t> I'm a little confused by what you mean as 'house rules'. But as for those incidents brought up there are easy ways to explain it-<br/>
<br/>
1. With the first ones, brigades were 'temporaily detatched' quite often. At the Battle of Gettysburg for instance, two of Hood's brigades were under ...

RE: Why do I feel like playing the Union is like playing "Whack-a-Mole"?

<t> Umm, I tend to try to capture the cities, but only if I have a chance of holding it. As for attrition, it works if you have the manpower (which you do). The main reason (I could be wrong, I'm more of a ACW and Napoleonic person myself) that the Germans failed at Verdun was because they were the ...

RE: Why do I feel like playing the Union is like playing "Whack-a-Mole"?

<t> Saying that you captured most of Tenn., and have the Confederates bottled in Richmond, I'd say you are doing better than the north was in history (At that point in 1863, they were on the verge of losing the war). Keeping long supply lines is the burden of the attacker, something that halted ...

RE: advice on which scenario to play

<t> Well I think why July 1861 was better was either:<br/>
<br/>
A. The costs of war did not set in yet.<br/>
<br/>
<br/>
B. They try to even the stranderd campaign out.<br/>
<br/>
C. Maybe FoF (as much as I love them) made a mistake. The new patch improves a lot of those (if you have the one ...

RE: Trying to change my mistakes of the past: An AAR

<r> Magruder and Price’s attacks, despite initial success, were slowing due to massed union fire. Schofield and Sturgis conducted a strong defense, and though the lead union elements were pushed back, outside of Westport, the attack staggered. The Missourians under Price, the famed ‘Missouri State ...

<r> Following the battle of Wabash, the Trans Mississippi theatre proved to have great interest. Joseph Johnston and his army crossed the Kansas-Missouri border into Missouri. His army was 24,000 strong now, exclusive of Indian recruits and ‘loyal’ Kansas militia. His target was the capitol ...

RE: Strategy for CSA in the east

<t> My strong suggestion would be to <br/>
&nbsp;<br/>
A. Launch an invasion of Pennsylvania. Capture Harrisburg and bring the state to your side, this will allow you to not only convince the world that the CSA has offensive power, but you can now produce troops in the union rear. This means that ...

<t> Well a few questions just to know your circumstance.<br/>
&nbsp;<br/>
1. How big are your victories on averege? Do&nbsp;you get any 'Cannae' like battles with huge sucsess or are they hollow victories?<br/>
&nbsp;<br/>
2. Have you launched any invasions of the north?<br/>

<r> As Johnston moved his army North, he arrived near Frankfort which was Kentucky’s capital. He ran the Governor and State Legislature out of town, and installed a new Governor. Johnston encamped his army near the edge of the town for the night. He had his men on guard, for he knew that the Army of ...
