RE: Game Speed V1.05

Wow, what a difference, the game has gone from being unplayable to how it should be. Thank you for the tip, I later spotted the thread lower down in the list so apologies for repeating [:D].

Game Speed V1.05

<t> Hi<br/>
<br/>
I've recently downloaded V1.05 and was looking forward to playing the revised version. However, I've been surprised by the very low game speeds despite running it on the most powerful PC I've ever owned. Compared to the old version, it takes an age to do anything. Is this a ...

RE: What bloody good is the .........??

<t> Playing a '43 Allied campaign and have found that the P-38H now performs very badly,even when operated at its optimum altitudes etc. Last few turns they've failed to kill anything and always suffer losses, even when bouncing. Morale was high, little fatigue, so don't really get it. I know they ...

RE: What bloody good is the .........??

<t> Your experiences with Allied aircraft petty much mirror my own - the P-39, 40 & Kittyhawks rarely register any kills in combat and almost always suffer losses when engaged. I guess this is fairly true to history - Hans Joachim Marseille claimed over 100 of the P-40 and its derivatives during his ...

RE: Ta effectiveness. A game breaker?

As the Luftwaffe, I find the P-47 & P-51 to be practically unbeatable,especially with the stock Me109G-6, so it's good to see there's hope for something to re-dress the balance! Right need to convert more factories.....

RE: Low capacity targets

<t> It's attack versus defence only I'm afraid, no need to worry about marauding FW-190s attacking your airfields!<br/>
<br/>
In my experience, the Luftwaffe will always respond to your raids no matter what they are targeted against. If you target enough of the right type, then hitting smaller ...

The numbers could be aircrew for the British, not just pilots. 7-8 guys in every heavy bomber don't forget. [:)]

RE: NJG morale

Even on nights with low visibility, there are prey to be had. I've found that patrolling near cities (not just the target city, but those along the bomber's route)results in an increase in kills. If you miss them on the way in, you can set traps for them on the way out.

RE: Who's around?

<t> Still playing! Just completed a 1940 BoB campaign as Fighter Command, good early victory over the Luftwaffe. Now trying the campaign as the Germans and really struggling! The AI's tactic of scrambling everything first thing has caused me some embarrassment, so adjusting my own tactics to suit ...

Nice one Harley; so good to see the game moving forward at last. Really appreciate your efforts in bringing the patch to fruition.

<t> I would definitely recon Hamburg again to get a more accurate damage assessment. You'd hope your raid hadn't fixed some of the previous damage!<br/>
I always send a series of bomber streams to the target, lead by a pathfinder squadron or unit with H2S. Keep each stream to about 2-300 bombers ...

Bomber Turn Back Issue

Was there any update with regard to this issue? Seeing it happen fairly frequently with 8th Air Force raids, fortunately the returning bombers have so far got off lightly!

<t> I'm in BTR! I'm flying Lancasters for 50 sqn out of RAF Skellingthorpe. HS was looking for pilot names to fill the rosters back when the game was being developed, and myself and a lot of guys "volunteered". It was also an opportunity to have relatives who fought in the war added to squadrons ...

On his first mission too. Damn. Should have made himself a Colonel and he wouldn't have had to fly missions.

<t> Well so far so good, upgraded to the latest AMD Catalyst drivers and haven't had a problem since. Seems strange as the existing ones were only from September! Actually getting the new drivers to work was a real pain, but that's a tale for the AMD forum!<br/>

Game crashes

<t> <br/>
Hi guys<br/>
<br/>
Well I took the plunge and bought the game with some money that Santa gave me; I'd really enjoyed the old Talonsoft version of BTR, despite its flaws and often eccentric behaviour!<br/>
<br/>
So here I am Day 1 into my new 1943 campaign, and the game has hung on me ...

RE: Had to Laff

<t> <br/>
What sort fo altitudes did the B-26 typically operate at in the ETO? Whenever I play against the Allied AI, it always sends them over at 21k, but historically I think the were operating at substantially lower altitudes, around 12-15k. A major factor in the game is whether you fly under 14 ...

RE: Another test run

Forgive me if this has been resolved already, but have you been able to cure the problem where Squadron Leaders / Colonels etc are shot down a little too regularly? If I recall, it was something to do with the way the game scanned the squadron list when aircraft engaged in combat.
