RE: Price?

Why should Australian developers have to pay for Wall Street excesses ??????

You're arguing that volume doesn't change and the price has to be set to cover cost and profit (revenue = volume x cost, after all).<br/>

I know it's a small developer and they have to pay the bills yadda yadda yadda but no price drop in 5+ years is a bit ridiculous.

If steam can generate a 3000% sales increase off a 75% drop in the price of Gary's Mod (which is a very niche product) maybe Matrix need to have a think about their pricing strategy. Did they ...

RE: Request For Printed Manual

<t> I don't care much about a printed manual, or not. I guess because I don't mind reading PDFs. But for the love of good, promote BFTB by reducing the price on COTA when BFTB is close to release. Consider a cheap COTA a demo for a game that is sadly free of any demo. I've got friends who would like ...

RE: Price drop before BFTB release?

<r> Steam is loaded with niche games actually. There are all kinds of oddities there and I find it hard to believe that wargames are somehow more niche than some of the things they have. And nicheness if never mentioned as a factor in whether Steam sells games or not when on sale. Further ...

RE: Price drop before BFTB release?

<t> To me it's about economics and the developers getting as much cash as they can.<br/>

RE: A question about scenarios...

<r> I blame the ugliness of the Matrix forums (and how messy they are to navigate from the master list), how poor the Matrix web pages are and also how poor Matrix are at promoting and competitively pricing their games. Those who were going to buy it did so in the first few weeks/months and I don't ...

RE: Price drop before BFTB release?

I've had a look around, and blogged about it. It seems only (?) Matrix Games like to keep 6 year old games at their full price (HTTR). Panther, I love you guys, Matrix, not so much.

Price drop before BFTB release?

<t> With BFTB being released this year I know a few people holding off buying COTA. Why doesn't someone consider dropping the price? It would stimulate sales of BFTB and it would get more sales of COTA. People can't justify a full-price for a game that has been out a while.<br/>
<br/>
Also, I ...

Oh, I didn't mean a campaign game like that - I meant a big group of players doing one scenario using forums as the staff meeting place.

Thanks for the news. And I've no idea how you'd do a big campaign game - it would be extremely hard work!

Has anyone tried running COTA as a staff exercise through forums? It would be really interesting to see folks write up and issue orders and then to have a GM plot them on the map as instructed, and to watch the players respond.<br/>

RE: Regarding hex/turn based games

<t> I can't face turn based operational games any more, even strategic games, they have to be WEGO or real time. I just think we're, what, 35 years past hex-based gaming, and we have computers, yet we're still stuck with the same central game we had back when wargaming started, albeit, with tweaks ...

RE: Tempe Gorge Crisis (Allies)

<r> Yeah, I should have paid a bit more attention to the distance I needed to cover and the time I needed to do it in. Mind you, that would have meant leaving the VP locations earlier, resulting in a requirement to kill more Germans, that would be tricky! But doable I guess.<br/>
