Re: the whole map

This is an idea I've had ever since I saw the TB system. Implement the whole world, and let players TB away the theatres they don't care about playing directly, to focus on the ones they do care about. It lets you expand the game to be global, while still keeping it manageable for players. Seems ...

Re: Making Industry Matter

Yeah, this is one of the big oversights of the War In The ___ games, IMO. WitP did a very small amount of it for Japanese plane production, but I haven't really seen any since then. You don't want it to be too big a part of the game, but it should be bigger than it is now, IMO.

Here's a ...

Agreed, this is a feature I've badly missed at times.

Let us rename formations (or at least make notes on them)

As I play games, I find myself wanting to change the purpose of specific units to be for specific tasks. In particular, the air groups are awful for this - I don't know Russian or German air group name abbreviations from the 1940s, so I just see a lot of JGs and SADs and other such acronyms that are ...

Youtube series - Alsadius (Ger) vs Coolbreeze (Sov)

I've been playing my first multiplayer game, and decided to make a Youtube series out of it. Done two turns so far, and I'm currently recording the third.

Turn 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3ByWw4EG_o
Turn 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_v3h6XdUkw

Generally doing fairly well so far - I ...

You can't actually build any new ground units other than the ones that arrive according to the ground unit arrival schedule. The vehicle factories just add tanks, trucks, half tracks etc, to the vehicle pool so you can fill those new units out,or ...

RE: Newbie Questions

<t> Ishtarin: Thanks. Some of those planes are ones I've got factories for(like 0(55) for the Ki-84a Frank and another 0(15) for the Ki-84b), they're just ones where I think that was the default starting arrangement, not ones where I moved things over. TBH, I think I phrased it misleadingly - most ...

Newbie Questions

<r> I'm playing my first game, as Japan fighting the Allied AI. And, as I assume is tradition for newbies, I have a lot of questions. I've played WitE 1/2, and I was brought into WitP by watching some Youtubers(THG vs Lodrik, specifically), so I have a general sense of how they act. But I know I've ...

RE: HEELLPPPppp. The RAIL UNITS do nothing

Are the hexes turning from red to orange? Because they aren't usable the turn you fix them (especially since the logistics phase has already happened before you can move units), but orange hexes will be green as of the next turn's logistics phase.

A bit of <I><s></s>feng shui<e></e></I> in the combat system - if you make them fight, they will use up their local supply stocks all the quicker. In this case, a bit of port bombing is maybe useful as it makes them fire AA (this is also ...

RE: City fort strategy as Soviets in 1941

Ah, excellent. I've been burned in other long-running games, so I'm used to just freezing my version of any giant strategy game for the duration of a campaign. Glad to see Matrix avoids that pitfall.

RE: City fort strategy as Soviets in 1941

<t> Obviously they're a deathtrap. It's 1941 - any effort to hold a fixed position is a deathtrap. I'm more curious about whether it buys enough time to be worth it. <br/>

And yeah, I could house rule them away, but as a relatively new player who's playing against myself, I don't feel any ...

City fort strategy as Soviets in 1941

<t> I'm playing my first WitE2 game against myself, in the grand campaign. And I'm spending a lot of time thinking about city forts for the Soviets as a way to roadblock the Germans. So far on turn 6, I've built Smolensk up strongly (7 good divisions with Purkaev in command, 724 defensive CV), and ...
