RE: Advantages of undivided units

Thanks guys. I think I'm reading the wrong articles then. The biggest difficulty is to know which ones are still up to date and which aren't, once, I supposed, there must have been a lot of chances since the first version of the game.

Advantages of undivided units

<t> When is it an advantage to let your unit undivided. Most articles I read suggest that we should divide most units for better terrain coverage, to alternate in the front line etc. There was even an article describing how to use divide/combine to decrease interdiction effects.<br/>

RE: Variety in Toaw

<t> There is still one concern I have. I've noticed that Fire in the East seems to be the most played scenario, really dominating the Toaw scene. I began to ask myself about the possibility of Toaw surviving the emergence of games like Gary Grigsby War in the East. I know it won't have the ...

RE: Variety in Toaw

<t> Thanks madner. That's exactly the kind of example I need. I have read Fite AARs and sometimes the statement of players saying that he must advance quickly and that's it, lead us to the conclusion that one must only find the fastest way for each unit and avoid making a major mistake in unit ...

RE: Variety in Toaw

<t> I play the game but, sadly, I don't have enough time to play it frequently. I tried some small scenarios, but really can't say I comprehend what I was doing (before someone asks... yes, I read the manual). I have other games to choose from and, not having enough time to play more than one of ...

RE: Variety in Toaw

<t> Since nobody risked stating what are the intellectual challenges present in a Toaw game, from the point of view of experienced players, perhaps I can, at least, have some descriptions of different strategical approaches some players have used in different scenarios, just to know how the game ...

I've not played the modern scenarios but I don't think they would differ that much from the WW2 ones. If you've read much about WW2 you would realize that terrain really only made a big difference if both sides were evenly matched. I have read ...

First this is operational scale rather than tactical. Terrain does make a difference (the manual says so [;)]). The time scale is in days instead of hours so, say a hill, can be overcome in a weeks time, no problem. Same with a river ...

Variety in Toaw

<t> Some time ago I bought the game, played a little with it and had to stop, due to lack of time. I'm thinking of trying it again, but going through some AARs on this forum I was surprised to see how much alike they are. It seems a matter of (using the words of a recent AAR I have read) retreating ...

RE: some questions before buying

<t> Thanks for the answers once more. One aspect I forgot to ask, you seem to have answered in anticipation: the lack of railroads. Looking at the maps on the AARs I noticed this. I went through some modding tutorials, even if I don't have the game yet, just to see, more or less, how the editor ...

<t> I didn`t buy the game yet, but reading those last observations I couldn`t avoid to associate it to a problem I see in any game simulating production. <r> Thanks all! It seems in fact very promising. I think that such a flexible engine can go far with time given continuous support. <t> I've been reading about toaw on this forum and other places and can't decide wether to go for it. <br/>
The main point is that after playing some hex based wargames, I've noticed that generic wargames can have scenarios playing all alike with features like local terrain topography having very ...
