Re: INF without engineers build/expand base?

Taking these two things in conjunction with my test results, here are my conclusions about entrenchment:
1. It takes engineers to entrench a unit in a non-base hex.
2. The apparent max level of entrenchment is 3.
3. The engineer squads only need be part of the TOE.

All of those are wrong, sorry ...

Re: Cannot rebuild Divison

All that and how long depends on production rate so in can take months in some cases to build up the pool.

One good trick is to upgrade squads by regiments. This is the only case where you actually want to divide a division for faster upgrade, cause old squads wil be upgraded to new ones in the ...

Re: Retreat losses

I have also noticed that units about to leave a hex are less likely to be attacked during an enemy DA or SA. I have no data on this to cite, just the impression over many games and repeats of that situation.

Well, movement phase is resolved before combat one, so maybe they just escape the hex ...

Re: Supply flow between bases

However, it always follows the path of least resistance; more supply will move along a road than a path than a mountain/jungle hex.

You certainly meant that supply will move ONLY along the road when one is available, and none will move through adjacent mountains-jungles.

In other words ...

Re: AI LCUs and Supply

On levels up to Hard you can get AI troops to zero supply and it gets progressively bigger malus to defensive capabilities. Driving suply to zero is necessary for big sieges in tough places.

On Very Hard AI always has supply in his LCUs no matter logistics

Re: Bombardment question

It is rare to be able to ambush CV TF with surface combat TF.

Former tends to have escorts, sometimes fast BBs but usually at least CAs. Those will try to screen the carriers.

Sometimes it works, but odds are not on your side that happening...

To expand on this comment, better way to disrupt ...

Yeah, that's by far the most reliable way to get enough supplies in the area for the Allies. Stuff Ramree full andkeep pushing. Some of it will overflow further into the jungle

Re: Repairing R&D Factories

The formula I came up with after testing is that daily probability to get +1 repair on a 30 size factory is approximately 1/(T-4/15) where T is number of calendar months left until the arrival month of the airframe. When T=1 probability ==1, factories repair by +1 every day when the frame is due ...

It is not pushover if you play it right, defending in depth, abandoning plains, using hard terrain and starting fortifying there from day 1. And yeah, release them cockroaches

Re: Assulting Force Resupply/reinforce

Send an amphib TF with only supplies, and embedded BBs. Preferrably lots of cargo ships with few suplies each, so that they empty in one phase so that they not draw unnecesssary fire from Truk CDs. Do not send troops piecewise, this will only trigger obligatory shock attacks and can get ugly for ...

Re: Air transport of units

Screenshots of bases and units would help. It is either high airfield damage or landlocked engineer units. IIRC you can airlift landlocked units in fact, but only between bases with matching command. Heavy machinery in engineers TOE does not prevent airlift of lighter squads, given that airlift is ...

Both by the way are Port size 6.

Why would it have a narural higher demand? It doen't have any HI.

With other things equal fuel flows to a larger port in the vicinity. If largest ports are the same, airport size is deciding factor. To make a port retain its fuel, you can either stockpile or ...

If you take an LCU with disabled field arty devices and move it to an adjacent hex, the LCU will finish its move after some time. It will arrive in the adjacent hex with all its DISABLED GUNS INTACT. Thus, disablement in field arty devices cannot mean only lack of gun transportation - it can mean ...
