RE: Moving naval task forces

<t> It was a Carrier group, I may have to look on the cd for the rules pdf, perhaps I have to gas them up first? haha I did make a supply TF follow the CV taskforce so that one also did not move. Playing this game is the first rung on the ladder, next moving to plan orange and then War in the Pacifi...

Moving naval task forces

<t> Just starting out with the game, went a game turn and noticed my TF's never moved in the initial Coral Sea scenario. To make sure I did this correctly I located the CV TF, clicked set Destination and then when the map appeared I chose a hex near Guadalcanal. Next turn none of my task forces move...

RE: Slow in newer Operating Systems

I installed on Vista 32bit and all runs well. Did not run well on Win8 64bit, so not certain if it is the bit architecture or the OS that was causing the issue. Hope this helps some of you out there trying to run this on newer machines.

Slow in newer Operating Systems

<t> After owning this for 5-10yrs I finally got around to installing this on Win8 to play. Unfortunately the mouseclicks, map movement, etc are verrrrrryyyyyyy slow with a few second delay. I have an older machine I can place this on, Vista and only 32bit but other than using patch 2.5, and tweaking...

France 40

<t> I am new to the game, finally got around to installing and looking it over today after owning it for years. France 40 is of interest to me, but I only see one scenario in the classics folder. Are there any other scenarios available, I went to the scenarios list here on this site but saw none als...

Brief overview

<t> After playing for an hour or so this title reminds me of Silent Storm + Brigade E3<br/> <br/> <br/> The graphics are wonderful. <br/> <br/> Moving and shooting are not quite so intuitive. You have to right click to show the path, keep enter depressed to keep moving up to the full movement allowa...

RE: Art of War + Avalon Hill Wargames

<t> Thanks, these responses were really helpful. I will look into this. <br/> I don't think it is just me but I have noticed a semi-resurgence in wargaming. I am in Maine and in May there is a miniatures convention and they are having a room of wargames as well. At other regular Eurogame conventions...

Art of War + Avalon Hill Wargames

<t> This may be a typical wargamer post. I have many older board wargames and usually I will set one up, realize I cannot leave it overnight due to space limitations and it all goes back into the box after a turn or two of whichever game I have setup. I have been playing some titles on Vassal such a...

RE: SLOOOOOW A.I.

<t> I am going to go on a limb and suggest that no one at Lordz did a test game of this with the new patch installed? <br/> <br/> Yes I am also in 1915 and the turns are unplayable due to the slow speed. Also I used to be able to minimize the game before for five minutes read forums, post facebook, ...

RE: Increasing manpower for depleted Divisions

<t> I also noticed that the draft helps too. I read in the book that it will automatically replace missing troops in divisions from your draft pool. The replacing is almost automatic if your troops are in-country and then lesser amounts if they are warring out-of country. I had a hard time with fora...

RE: Increasing manpower for depleted Divisions

<t> Just this morning at pg 88 of the manual I just spotted that you can click a unit, then click another unit in the stack and it gives you a bar that you can manipulate as to how many troops to move from one unit to the other. So I am guessing I can produce a lot of units then use them to fill int...

Increasing manpower for depleted Divisions

I am playing as Britain and invade Spain, making them surrender after a year. My troops in Spain are pretty beat and depleted many are down to 1k strength. Is there a way to make them go back up to 7k or higher? Like how ships repair at port, do these armies do the same? Thanks

RE: Red manpower and red Cash numbers on main screen

Thanks, somehow I also clicked in that area and it changed from showing red 100 and 200 and then showed -2 and 0 so that makes sense that per turn it was not increasing.

Two months later of the game and yes that Real Infantry mod was perfection, some smaller vehicles appeared but it was mostly squads which was what I was hoping for.

Red manpower and red Cash numbers on main screen

For manpower and cash at the bottom of the screen I am seeing them in red, what does this reflect? At first I thought it was a negative amount but now I see that I was mistaken.

RE: New player to Close Combat, other ones have less tanks?

<t> The real infantry mod is working well in Cross of Iron with mostly squad based tactics. I may go back and play the regular campaign unmodded later and will just have to choose more tanks and guns for my squad. My lack of experience with this game may also be a factor in my being routed with the ...

New player to Close Combat, other ones have less tanks?

<t> Playing strategy titles since Gulf Strike back on the Commodore and somehow missed this entire Close Combat series until now. I have Cross of Iron (which I guess was based on CC3 Russian Front?) and it is a great game until I ran into about six tanks with my two tanks and infantry. I picked up t...

Kudos to Frank Hunter/Adanac - also ACW Sumter

<t> Love Guns of August. Purchased this and loved the title and then realized this was the same developer who created the ACW Sumter game from the early 90's. <br/> <br/> I used to play the original older version of ACW that which had tactical battlefield combat as well as the strategic gameplay for...
