Also I forgot to mention that taking human control of Finland when they are at war with Russia also helps. Whether they join the axis or not. You can take Murmansk and Lenningrad with the Finns, which really helps the axis war against Russia.

You don't have to take all the North Africa VP cities. You do have to take Nantes which is not a VP city. There is a recent thread where this was all covered.

The counters are beautiful. I prefer the 1st choice from the post about which choice. No white bar, and nato designation of division and corps. I will enjoy whichever you go with though. Thanks for doing this counter mod.

When I referred to VP cities I meant the ones actually in France. You don't have to attack the Maginot, you just have to isolate it. At least that was the case in 1.6. May have changed with 1.7, but I still do it and get the vichy event.

Nothing is to stop either if that is how you choose to play. The Germans can do either strategy. That is one of the redeeming qualities of the game. You are pigeon holed into following historical steps. You can decide to run the war the way you want to run the war.
