RE: Escape from Velikiye Luki

<t> Hi blackcloud,<br/>
<br/>
It sounds like you may have tried to set up in the Germans exit hexes. There are six of those on the West (left) edge of the map. The set-up zone for the Germans is at the exact opposite end of the map, more or less the entire East (right) map edge. It's a three map ...

No chance to use sea transport? (Not enough factors, perhaps, or British fleets blocking you?)

RE: Escape from Velikiye Luki

Thanks, guys. I'm not a modder by any stretch, but this editor is so easy to use, and there are so many interesting SL and ASL scenarios,
that I encourage anyone who wants something in particular to give it a shot.

Escape from Velikiye Luki

<t> Now in the Submitted Scenarios thread:<br/>
<br/>
One of my old-time favorites: Escape from Velikiye Luki <br/>
<br/>
Large map, small number of infantry only. Played at night with 2-hex visibility. Kind of hide and seek with machine guns. <br/>
Had to cut the number of exit hexes to 6 ...

RE: Squad Leader Mod

<t> Wow. These stories are quite nostalgic. My first AH game was Victory In The Pacific, which I picked up in the discount bin of a K-Bee Hobby shop while my family was on vacation in Florida. I was probably 10. All I knew was that I loved military history, and the idea of fighting battles that had ...

Hey, Gil. Just wondering if there has been any progress on locating the source of this leaderless brigades issue..

<t> For what it's worth, LuckyJim, I got used to the rain sound pretty quickly, and as has been said, they will get the fix up soon.<br/>

I can heartily recommend getting the game if you have any interest at all in American Civil War battles, or even a simulation of mid-19th century warfare ...

RE: What might have been

<t> No, the supply train took a couple pot shots, but it was Taylor's brigade coming up as reinforcements that did the job; Two CSA cav units got behind my line that was advancing on Fort Magruder. It looked like they were making a bee-line for my supply wagons; don't know if this was "intentional ...

RE: On Firing

<t> I concur with this entirely. One of the best aspects of the game is that I feel like I've maneuvered the troops, but now I have to just sit back and wait for reports of what's going on. That and having the activation failure happen at the end of the turn really give the sense that coordinating a ...

RE: Williamsburg reinforcements entering without leaders?

Yes, I believe you are right, Gil. I didn't realize at the time that Keyes had begun encamped on map, as all the other units that begin on map are fine when they unlock. I've uploaded a file from the game to this message. I have another if you need it.

RE: Williamsburg reinforcements entering without leaders?

This issue may have something to do with which leaders have bios implemented; it has continued to happen with reinforcements, with the exception of Erasmus Keyes, who has the proper information on his counter and also happens to have a written bio...

Williamsburg reinforcements entering without leaders?

<t> I don't know if this has been reported yet, but it appears that in the Williamsburg historical scenario, on Captain difficulty, the Union reinforcements (so far elements of Kearny and Couch's divisions) enter without leaders for brigade echelon and up. <br/>

What I mean is that the ...

RE: What does B.O. attack restrictions mean in firefight turn summary?

I believe "B.O. restrictions" means "Brigade Order restrictions;" units will fire or not depending on what order their parent brigade has.

The pink circle, I think, if you mean around the actual unit sprite on the map, indicates a failure to activate on the last turn...

RE: Difficult level

<t> I have to say, I haven't had this much fun on a Civil War battlefield since I visited Gettysburg as a kid. The misinterpret and failure to activate feature are key to this, I think. If I can manage to take Fort McGruder this time, I'll have to up it to Lt. Col. <br/>

The way I read that modifier is that the number to the left of the slash is the number of movement points left unexpended by the unit before the combat phase began. In this case the unit spent all 28 movement points,thus had 0 left when combat began, therefore t h e large ...
