RE: How 'complete' is the simulation?

<t> Single ship gameplay was more of a thing in earlier versions where you could create super ships out of constructors. Now, with the stricter ship building limits, you can't create a big expensive broken ship to run around dominating the universe with and you'll typically need a fleet to ...

RE: Can you only assassinate leaders and not any other type of character?

You can assassinate most characters (any except intelligence agents, I think) but the character needs to exist first. Not sure if you need to "discover" the location they're at before they become a valid target, though...

RE: If you set research to max you can never research anything!

In my experience there is a roughly equal chance of setback or breakthrough, and if I remember right a project cannot get a setback once crash research has been initiated on it so you end up with a net gain of research in most cases.

RE: Before I click purchase...

Fastest way to learn is probably to play on expert settings (all manual) and looking up anything you're stuck with as needed. You can then put things you want on auto as you figure them out.

Does that option affect the AI empires or is it just there as a player handicap?

Put at least one on everything you plan to retrofit. Extra resources are stored on bases for retrofitting and if you don't have a cargohold I don't think it can retrofit at all.

This and logic suggests it would stack.

What logic? Because you can build more than one shouldn't automatically mean they have cumulative effects.

No I mean space cats since they're clearly described as Feline.

(I know they're given the "rodent" classification for some reason, I complained about it in the original release but I guess they didn't feel like changing it)
