There just needs to be some kind of check that ensure that region around each empire's homeworld has expansion possibilities. Tough luck if it's sparse and inhospitable but there should be something so they become part of the game instead of doing nothing.

I like to make a huge orbital shipyard base with tons of construction bays and plants to rapidly build ships when I'm involved in large wars. Building them at the planet makes them easier to defend and you can make larger stations in orbit.

This has happened to me too. I noticed that about 5 various types of mining stations in my home system were gone. They weren't destroyed, I had no enemies and they were armed just enough to fend off pirates. Not to mention I had a lot of military ships in that system.

Runs fine for me, although I have a dual core system and NVIDIA GTS250.

&nbsp;The only thing that bugs me or makes it "seem" to be sluggish is that way you zoom in and out, instead of a steady in/out it's in steps which can make it appear to be choppy.
