RE: Invade you blighters!

Thats the only way? A new design and new ships?
hmm...a bit of bad design there. Hope they fix it in a future patch.

RE: How to do research?

<t> Hmm, with those derelict ships I more often use most of them- unbeatable force, especially with the devestator. I just recycle the destroyers and the troop transport.<br/>
<br/>
Those debris fields annoy me though. The AI always seems to show up at the same time as you and you can't tell them ...

Invade you blighters!

<t> I've noticed with the ai when they attack planets they always seem to storm in and land their troops straight away, before the defences have even been defeated.<br/>
They're able to take over planets and all the defences with just their troops. Suddenly defence batteries become theirs.<br ...

RE: How to do research?

hmm, weird that the ai always seems to be so far ahead of me though. Do they do the civ 4 thing and trade techs like crazy?

How to do research?

<t> In a weekend of bordom I decided to check to see if there'd been any updates to the game and downloaded the latest patch and gave it a go.<br/>
Wow, seems to be a big improvment so far. The enemy empires are actually a challenge, colonising far and wide and...wow. I got into a war with one and ...

RE: Stupid fleets (rant)

<t> DW is certainly better than MOO3. Its a lovely piece of software. It really feels like space empires battling it out in my computer. The scale is believably huge.<br/>
<br/>
But.<br/>
Is it a game?<br/>
<br/>
The automation is just...you can sit back and do nothing and it will play the game ...

RE: Stupid fleets (rant)

<t> I had salvaged super advanced ships. They could take on anything the enemy would throw at me- though they lost most of their number going up against his huge space port and all those defence bases at his home world....<br/>
<br/>
But anyway, thats neither here nor there there. All I wanted was ...

Stupid fleets (rant)

<t> This game can really really annoy me sometimes.<br/>
I had my fleet all set to attack my enemy, I had a plan. Take their lightly defended outer world of their system to use as a base to wreck havoc on them whilst I build up to be able to attack their heavily defended home base.<br/>
What do my ...

RE: Distant Worlds and Sins of Solar Empire

I found sins to be pretty unplayable. The 3D map was just impossible to use, I couldn't keep track of anything. Thank god I never bought it and only tried out a friend's version.

RE: the case against multiplayer

<t> Multiplayer sucks. I absolutely hate it how much effort the modern pc games industry puts into it. For most games it should be very much a secondary concern after single player.<br/>
A little theory I've got is that the reason for this is multiplayer games sell better due to there being ...

<t> On Earth: I did find the Sol system in one game. Started as humans in a sector full of human independants. A few stars over was Sol.....<br/>

RE: Distant Worlds runs fast on my machine

Thats not a old system, its pretty OK.
It runs quite decently on my 2ghz, 1mb system. It takes 15 minutes to get going though. Initial load up times are horrid. And saving- ouch.

Desolation moon and Krantor sector

<t> Hello everyone,<br/>
<br/>
I'm having a bit of trouble with the game. Does anyone know how on earth to fix the desolation moon?<br/>
With its escorts things are easy. I just set my construction ship's cursor over the top of them and clicked and they fixed. With the Desolation Moon itself ...
