Re: Ship design woes

It's a consequence of moving to 3D graphics. You can't really have the old design system and still have space battles look good with the increased graphical fidelity. The weapon effects have to originate somewhere on the model, so the game has to know where it is mounted. That leads, fairly ...

<t> Very interesting.<br/>
I do have some questions how it will go operatively, I mean say an explorer with survey module and sensor jumps to system 4831<br/>
it does a cursory survey over the whole system and then goes to do detailed surveys of each planet? or goes to each planet and starts doing ...

<t> on the one hand I like the idea of adding some geography, so nebulas having an effect is interesting....<br/>
What about black holes also having an area of effect around them? or pulsars? <br/>

RE: DW2 FAQ?

<t> <br/>
You know, it is a shame this is happening in game, because having a separate simulated battle could be useful, as a test for the design.<br/>
If you can create a virtual scenario to have that happen "elsewhere" it would be kinda awesome.<br/>

<t> This sounds kinda awesome, on the technical level<br/>
on the player level, I am ambivalent, eye candy is always nice but my experience with DW I rarely tended to be zoomed into things.<br/>
Frankly, I'd rather have quick and easy visibility that gives me substantial info, so a type of planet ...

RE: Poll: First DW2 expansion?

<t> Stellaris implementation is particularly bad and micro heavy and has issues stacked on issues<br/>
Which was why originally sectors were AI controlled things to keep the kludge of a planetary system from overwhelming even the most die hard player<br/>

I think a more in depth system can ...

<t> I mean, as an optional feature "use on your own risk" or maybe in limted size playmaps? could be neat to have. Just planets, though, not moons or asteroids (and maybe only inner planets, nothing with orbital speeds measured in decades/centuries per rotation) if we start adding which ones orbit ...

RE: Ground attack interface suggestion

<t> <br/>
Agreed and, if you are going to add extra level of detail to the invasion interface, pausable real time isn't the best method, but some form of turn based.<br/>
I think that having some more detail would be fine, as having some extra options, but it still needs to be mostly hands off for ...

That sounds like a modern Emperor of the fading suns, which would be all kinds of awesome, but don't think if it fits with Distant Worlds

RE: Distant worlds 2 is on Steam

<t> <br/>
IT is at the core of the issues of Stellaris, yes. I mean it is the whole reason the first version of the game had the AI sectors, so that the pop management could be limited. But given how much 4x players like to micro, and how oft we don't trust AI to do a half competent job ad ...

<t> That's cool<br/>
Specially being able to obsolete/retire hulls, unlike components I wasn't sure we'd get the option and with the number seen in the video, I feared we'd end up with a rather large list (which is nice, because options, but can add to clutter at times)<br/>

Also being able to hide hulls, call it "retiring them" after all if we will have N hulls of each type, being able to not seeing them in the build screen would be a godsend
