I was under the impression that any airfield attack had the potential to inflict pilot casualties. But from my observations, its rare.

Can't say I've seen it though. I've been spending much of my time with a guadalcanal PBEM and the few units that have needed withdrawing withdrew fine. But that was patches ago.. maybe it's a previous patch ...

unless I suspect ships are in the vicinity or have already spotted a TF, I rarely use search arcs. Either way though, you can still miss sighting a TF.

Most planes MVR rating drops around 20k, therefore there's really no reason for planes to be at 30k+. doing so must be trying to cheat knowing no plane flies ...
