Re: Linux: Anyone install WITP AE as a non steam game using Proton?

Checking in on this... I'm going to get a steam deck and want to install witp, but am far too much the Luddite to understand what the heck everyone said in the above thread. Is there a "for dummies" version that can be accomplished? I don't even care about sound effects working or whatever, just ...

Re: Now I remember...

Sorry to hear you are so frustrated with it. It's an old game and definitely has its quirks. Several parts of combat had to be abstracted, while others operate on deeply complex under the hood mechanics. From the sounds of it though, this just isn't the game for you. In the example of your surface ...

Re: Any interest in a Scenario "1.5" for 11.26B?

If the aim is to have a more "balanced" game with Japan not overrunning China, India and Australia and the Allies not steamrollering back starting in 1943, Japan should not receive additional assets early in the war, but some help starting mid-war, while the Allies should get some help early and ...

Looking for a mid-range opponent [closed]

I'm a moderately experienced player looking for a Japanese opponent. I'm open to Scenario 1, 2, DaBabes, or any mod that doesn't veer too far from the base game.

House rules would be negotiable and partially subject to the scenario.

I'm on EST and can average a turn per day, weekends being ...

good stuff!

Part 1 of the air war all in one place, hopefully! The rest on air units, aircraft, pilots will follow eventually.

I’m no super expert. I’ve not re-written the manual, all I’ve done is is collect various post together with the bare bones of how thing work giving references’ to ...

Re: Another War - Xargun (Japan) vs Deaniks (Allies) -- No Deaniks Please

If you're gonna do an AAR, do it for yourself. If that means YouTube feels better, so be it.

As a beneficiary of good AARs, Jan and MBF represent my thoughts on the matter. I would add that forums allow a quick recalibration on past action: I'm not going back to another minute mark in a past video ...

Re: The Storm Will Consume Us.....

Once Correction, at some point, someone asked if there were more Allied land units. As I said, I had not seen any, but I would look around.

Outside of a number of Training Air Units for the USN, USA, USMC, and Brit. New units come in the scenario setting of no unit withdrawals with a number of ...

Let me know if there are any other items people would like to know about regarding this version of the BTS (Light) mod. I should have the 1st turn back from John today or tomorrow.

Thus far questions have understandably focused on Naval and Air assets. What about land - is it DBB untouched or ...

Re: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A))

Well, it's cause NJP posted a photo of his losses from Tracker, and I'd like to compare, to see both sides' losses...including how fog of war might've affected those losses.

As a general rule, best not to reference opponents respective AARs in the other thread. Greatly reduces any chance of ...

Sitting on the proverbial edge of my seat. Serious kudos to how you're setting yourself up.

I've played a few allied games and would never have thought the route and speed you've taken are feasible.

Re: Advice on how large to build Japanese Industry in PBEM game

I'll take a stab here, though am by no means an expert.

The short answer is: mileage varies. By May of '43, each game is vastly different. How many tankers have you lost? How much fuel and oil are sitting in the Home Islands? How close are the Allies to cutting you off from the SRA? 2MM HI points ...

Re: Kantai Kessen: A Sparrowhawk26 vs J LongLance93

Based on intel it looks like the allies in both Malaya and Philippines are in general retreat towards some holdout positions, looks like Bataan and Singapore.

Philippines Operation has to make do with what 14th and 16th Armies have for now but the 25th Army will get the 21st Division added to its ...

I should point out that I now have 24 size 90 CVs and 8 CVLs, all USN. They all have F4U-1A or F4U-1D fighters.
And I still have 21 more in the pipeline. Late 44 and 45 will be fun.

I also have just got the first 8 squadrons of B-29s at Aden and they are on the way to Karachi. Fun time starts ...

Another quiet turn, bombing of Truk and Bangkok

KB has disappeared completely.
Working theory on why he showed KB then ran? It feels exploratory and/or hopeful rather than strategic.
