RE: Hotkeys

<r> <QUOTE><s>
</s>Wow. No mention of hotkeys in the tutorial, nor are they even listed in the manual. Fail. <e>
</e></QUOTE> Well, *some* keys are mentioned in the tutorial. Specifically, all of the ones which are set in stone are mentioned. The hotkeys which are not mentioned are in t...

RE: Screen Resolution

<t> Yes, that's perfectly normal. It's the only way to keep the interface completely consistent between all resolutions and aspect ratios. It looks kind of unsightly having big gaps at one (or both ends) and stretching is even worse. If I was starting development today, I would design for 1920x1080 ...

RE: Public Beta v1.01 for Star Sentinel Tactics

Thanks for the info. I have a computer which is connected to a 1920x1080 monitor, so I'll get the Matrix-wrapped version of the game running on that computer over the weekend and see if I can at least reproduce this problem. It would be nice to have a proper, simple fix for this in 1.02.

RE: Public Beta v1.01 for Star Sentinel Tactics

<t> If it's a quarter of the way off the screen, it sounds like you need to set a higher value than 4. Play around with different values and set it on the lowest value which actually lets the mouse scroll.<br/> <br/> You make a good point on testing the version with Matrix's wrapper on it. I probabl...

RE: Public Beta v1.01 for Star Sentinel Tactics

<t> I can't reproduce the problem, so I have no way of determining the correct values. The values Andrew gave are just examples, so you'll have to experiment to find the correct value. I have no idea why DirectX is returning incorrect values.<br/> <br/> Alternatively, if you play in windowed mode, t...

RE: camera pov 360?

You can rotate the camera through 360 degrees and you can adjust the pitch of the camera. The camera prevents very oblique angles in order to optimize the speed and quality of dynamic shadows. So you can't get quite down to a first person view, but that's the only real limitation.

RE: Camera Control

Ah yes, I see what you mean. That might be trickier. I do some pretty major shadow optimizations by not allowing the camera to go beyond 45 degrees. If I allowed that to happen, it would break the optimizations and the shadows would get pretty ugly.

Not currently. I'll make a note for future patches. When you say depress it more, do you mean that you'd like it to zoom in closer?

RE: Where is patch?

Both the AI bug and the saved games which crash on loading should be fixed by the patch, even if you have saved games from before the patch, yes. The saved game format has not changed.

RE: GAME MANUAL

<t> 1.01 is the latest version. When it was originally launched, they released a broken version of 1.01 because their Securom DRM is bugged. They've since removed the DRM, at my request, and the 1.01 patch now works again. Essentially, if your version of 1.01 doesn't crash immediately you try to run...

RE: Where is patch?

<t> Turning has a zero AP cost for a number of reasons. One of the main reasons is that it givea a little flexibility to players who are struggling on a particular level. If you're really in trouble, you can stop and turn for free at every step of the way, and make the game that little bit easier. P...

RE: Where is patch?

<t> This 1.01 patch is all about fixing bugs. I was planning to also include the toolkit and documentation for the toolkit but there have been a number of serious bugs found and I decided that it was a priority to get the game working first. There have been a couple of AI bugs fixed, so hopefully th...

RE: Where is patch?

<t> I said I'd delivered it to the distributors, not that it was "out". I'm sure there's quality assurance work to be done on Matrix's side. Just because I've tested the patch, doesn't mean that it (necessarily) works with their installers, etc. I'm sure everyone who bought the game will have access...

I haven't been able to have direct contact with Gamers Gate until today. I've contacted them directly today, to raise my concerns about two issues, one of which is the manual. I'll update you when I know more.

It's in the hands of the distributors. Assuming you bought it here, hopefully someone at Matrix will be able to tell you more on the expected release.

RE: Star Sentinel Tactics - game hanging

<t> There was a bug in the AI for a creature which only appears in Mission 15, which can cause the symptoms you're experiencing. It's fixed in the 1.01 patch. I tried quite hard to come up with a workaround for the bug in the meantime, but there really isn't any way of fixing it until the patch is r...

RE: GAME MANUAL

I delivered a manual for Gamers Gate within hours of the first time it was ever mentioned. I can try to find out when it will be made available, but I'm becoming painfully aware that I'm very low in the pecking order when it comes to such information.

<t> Sorry for not spotting this sonoer. I've been busy getting the first patch out. I can't understand why "there is no PDF manual anywhere" on your computer. When I open up the Star Sentinel Tactics folder in Program Files, I have a folder called documentation and in there is a PDF manual. The vers...
