RE: Hitler's Generals & Admirals......

Always disgusted to see how many fascists and crypto-fascists play this game, and easily fall for (neo-)nazi ideology and fairy tales. Let's hope they all are plainly ignorant and harmless...

RE: AI Evacuation

<t> If you finish a turn closer than 10 hexes to an factory location, that factory will be gone in the next turn.<br/>
I think it is 10 hexes (roughly), please correct me if I am wrong.<br/>
<br/>
the AI has no rail cap limit, but only rolls out the factory that are threatened (10hex rule), so ...

RE: AI Evacuation

<t> I guess capping the rail link will prevent evacuation, at least in my present game I trapped the factories in Leningrad...<br/>
<br/>
but generally, the AI evac rules are retarded. They lead to an unrealistic style of play because industry can only be destroyed by making huge leaps (because of ...

<r> post#5 "the Russians may well not have beaten back the German invasion."<br/>
Glantz says (somewhere) that without lend-lease it would have taken the Soviets about one year longer to destroy the Nazi empire. <br/>

To "save" the Soviets, the help really arrived too late, when the ...

Automated data gathering - an idea

<t> Well, a lot of untested hypothesis floating around:<br/>
- how to break red army: Arm, AP or manpower<br/>
- Blitzkrieg: encircle vs. spearhead<br/>
- winter strategy<br/>
- importance of leningrad and moscow<br/>
etc.<br/>
<br/>
You could run some serious statistical analysis to test ...

RE: Nogrorod

novgorod+bridgehead across volkhov = right hook threat, also unhinges luga-line. but this really only comes into play when you are not able to cut the the leningrad railway directly and early on, i think.

Command structure changes too expensive (?)

<t> I find that the AP cost to attach corps/army HQs to different superior HQs is ridiculously high. up to 60 AP to attach a puny army to a different front (12.2.1)? If you fail leadercheck, it's cheaper to disband it and build a new one (25AP)...<br/>
Also starting a 42/43 campaign is no fun as ...

RE: Ready to attack now! just info

<t> Granted, to some people numbers (and facts) are boring. It's much more interesting to read made-up fantasy novels like Suvorov stuff. But dont expect me to tolerate those guys that propagate this fascist-enabling counter-factual bullshit. As you see how the thread is named, some want to disguise ...

RE: Patch 1.04.22 to much of a German nerf?

Flaviusx, you are probably right (though I think you could mix my proposal with hard cap), but your comment (admittedly taken out of context) still made me smile:

"German players would [...] totally ignore logistical constraints"

Talk about realism...

RE: Patch 1.04.22 to much of a German nerf?

<t> I'm not sure what the effect of the new 20MP rule will be for game balance, but I see why some people dont like it. The cut-off point is really quite arbitrary and constrains the freedom of choice. Another idea would be to let AP and truck costs rise exponentially with distance/MPs to railhead ...

RE: realism=rebalancing (barbarossa)

<t> @heliodorus04: The overall lines of your argument may be valid, youre probably a more experienced player, but that the routing routine is a "necessary abstraction given the IGOUGO" doesnt make sense to me. in one week, some disorganized unit in the open with no line to fall back to gets chopped ...

RE: realism=rebalancing (barbarossa)

<t> @murat<br/>
I know that morale is the most important variable. My point was that game balance, historical outcome, is achieved by morale and weather changes. Thats why I called the modelling pseudo-realistic, it gets the outcomes kind of right, but not how it comes about. Then of course you ...

realism=rebalancing (barbarossa)

<t> Just read Glantz's stumbling colossus (chapters on ground force readiness - Impressive data by the way...) which made me reassess my judgement of how appropriate early period (Barbarossa) is modelled. <br/>
Always smelt sth fishy about the morale/weather modelling decisions... Kind of ...
