Re: How do I change screen resolution?

Thanks, anyway. I guess I will have to change my desktop solution every time I play.

Re: How do I change screen resolution?

Ouchy. I had hoped for a command line that I can change to override the default setting.

So essentially the game is hardcoded to run in desktop solution?

How do I change screen resolution?

I want to play the game in a lower resolution than 1980x1024, but without changing my desktop resolution.
How can I tell that to the game?

Re: Newbie Questions

Thanks guys, that really is a big help. The only question now is,what to do in the first 10 or so turns.Someone on another forum said to buy armoured cars and explore the map,so is this game like Civilization ? or is this exploration thing for a different part of ATG ?

Re: Advanced Tactics Development Poll

If you can do ONE thing, please make the AI able to use carriers. It being not able to do that makes the game vs. AI both asymmetric and ahistoric.

If you can do TWO things, please make random maps more random, more interesting and more natural-looking (unpredictable mixture of irregular-shaped ...

Re: ATG: Wishlist thread

The AI should be able to do everything that the player can do, including:
  • 1. Utilize Carriers
    2. Utilize Paratroopers
    3. Build Forts
    ...and so on.

It's never too late to participate in Heroes and Leaders mod.
Thank you very much for your contribution and I will include it in the Core. Just very shortly there will be a new update with many modifications and corrections. I will include it there.

Re: Are Wargame AIs Fated to Suck?

I love the 3R CRT. The predictability is just right, with 2:1 giving you a victory nearly always. I also like the small chance of catastrophic failure, which will happen to you about once or twice per game, so you have to take the possibility into account. :)

I am not really sold on the gameplay of SPWW2. It feels a bit, I dunno, attritional? Predictable? Not all that challenging?

Re: RE: Are Wargame AIs Fated to Suck?

However, my attitude to all this is: If a game does have (unintentional) exploits, it´s a sloppy design and I don´t like it.

That´s why I think the Heart of Iron series is basically crap.

The only games with no exploits are games that come with a very strict set of rules and a very limited ...

Re: RE: Are Wargame AIs Fated to Suck?

Third Reich does an excellent job at limiting the outcomes on the strategic level to what was historically possible. It also does a good job of showing what was most important (the economy!). It does this by consistently throwing out the irrelevant little details. Such as one German infantry ...

It is nowhere near the ability of a good human player. It provides a good sparring partner for those learning to play the game. Humans provide the best gaming experience because they are capable of sustained strategic thought and can “feel” the skill and aggression levels of their opponents ...

Re: How is the AI ?

Simple: A good AI plays to win and exploits the rules to its advantage nearly as much as a good player does (or more so, ideally).

There it is.

So we agree on the criteria for a good AI. Now the million dollar question: Does the Stalingrad AI match these criteria? :)

I didn´t find much in ...

Yes, with the Steel Inferno campaign and scenario pack coming out next month, we're pretty focused on WITE2.

Thanks, though not really encouraging tbh.
I somehow get the feeling once you are finally finished with WITE2, there will be a War in the West 2 and then it´s time for WITE3 and then we ...

Re: How is the AI ?

Does the AI
use defensive terrain
defend Victory objectives
create/escape pockets
attack with sensible odds
keep HQ's safe

That's a good list. An autonomous AI should do all those things. I'll give you the short answer first and then the long answer once I scribe it and slap some Shakespeare ...
