RE: December Hotfix for v1.05 - 2nd Army Issues

There is not much I can do. Except point to the hotfix at the moment.
As I've been saying here and on Steam, the hotfix 'SCN VERSION: 18TH DEC'17 - CAMERON 1.05V4' hasn't fixed the problem for me. See my screenshot above.

RE: December Hotfix for v1.05 - 2nd Army Issues

<r> Below is a screenshot from my last game (start of the July 28 turn), playing the hotfix as its own scenario -- obviously these penalties are so severe that I just quit and have no interest in playing until this is fixed. <br/> <br/> If there's a way to play the earlier v1.04 build on Steam, I'll...

RE: December Hotfix for v1.05 - 2nd Army Issues

<t> The hotfix doesn't work for me. I've started 3 different games and the 2nd Army bug happened in all three. I tried to play through it, but when 2nd Army gets 6 divisions, each draining 5PP per turn, the game becomes unplayable.<br/> <br/> So at the moment it's totally broken, for me at least.<br...

RE: EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED with CotD

<t> For the first time in years I emerge from Steam and actually buy a game (this one) from Matrix and have the same problem that HarryInk cites above -- the game won't run. Uninstall, reinstall, still won't run, or it runs with constant error messages about missing bmp files.<br/> <br/> Buying from...

RE: I wasted money

<t> This game's development really was ridiculously rushed, it would appear. I read what the game's writer said on RPS about how little time he had to actually write anything, and wasn't able to test his writing in game to see how it worked in context. <br/> <br/> So I guess they didn't have time to...

RE: Brilliant Game...

<t> <br/> Personally, while I found the original UC a great little game, both Red Turn and, so far, Black Turn, have been *far* too easy. I sailed through Red Turn almost without having to replay a single map, while with the original game it must have taken 10 tries to win the Stalingrad map alone. ...

RE: New Game?

<t> Hmm, that's a very interesting idea Cleveland -- it never occurred to me, but I think you're right, with some modifications the system might work quite well for Napoleonic warfare, maybe even the American Civil War.  That's the beauty of the system -- simple and elegant but with real depth to it...

RE: New Game?

<t> Agreed -- I'd love to see multiple campaigns within a given timeframe.&nbsp; You could easily come up with half a dozen Roman campaigns using the same map, just shift faction and unit dispositions (Spartacus, the Social War, Sulla, Crassus in the east, Caesar, the 2nd Triumirate, Antony vs. ...

For signal player I would say no, for multiplayer then I'll say maybe if you could get enough players too play all the nations in the game.

RE: My biggest complaint about the game.

<t> I agree -- it does feel more or less like a puzzle game; once I've "beaten" a scenario there's no desire to go back.&nbsp; With a true open campaign, I can play over and over again.&nbsp; I would love to see this elegant system used for a more open, strategic style of gameplay, though I ...

Is This Game Broken?

<r> <br/> Greetings Crowners -- I'm considering a purchase of this game but in browsing the forum I came across the post below by Pistachio, from June 2010, regarding a new patch after the 1.09 patch (which I believe was the last patch released, back in 2009). I've read several posts dating back yea...

Why is this game selling for $50?

<t> Never heard of Forge of Freedom before; I was researching AGEOD titles and saw this as a competing Civil War product. Then I saw it has detailed turn-based battles and I'm all 'sold!' That's my kind of game.<br/> <br/> Come here and see it's still selling for $50. Now, don't get me wrong, I unde...

RE: eye-test

Two questions, gentlemen:

1. What is the 'withdrawal bug'?

2. Is the game worth purchasing in its current state?&nbsp; I am seeking a new hex 'n counter game and this one intruiges me -- would love to give it a whirl if it's solid enough.

RE: Unity of Command - Bronze in Usenet's Wargame of the Year 2011 vote

I'd have to give Unity the edge over Panzer Corps, which is a fine game in its own right.&nbsp; But Unity is a trailblazing system that will only grow, while Panzer Corps is a 20 year old system dressed up in new clothes.

Nah, this game system is too good for little bite-sized campaigns -- let's go for broke: all of Europe in a Total War style sandbox campaign featuring dozens of factions and spanning centuries of history, with online multiplayer support.&nbsp; Do it! [8D]
