RE: Blatant error, decided not to buy the game over it

I, for one, will not be buying the game if jimwinsor's arachnid symbol is used. It has six legs.

Still, just to draw a parallel to the 1976 Midway, how many of you had anything to say about its realism when you first saw it?

Saw it when it opened (and yes, I was about 12). It was in Sensurround, so the ...

RE: Armored Brigade Release Stream on Youtube

XTRG has many, many, many hours of gameplay videos on his YouTube channel. Not all Matrix, but a lot, notably some quite long playthrough series of WitPAE and WitE. His WitE videos got me to finally make an effort at playing it, after owning it for years, and I play it quite a bit now.

RE: General "END GAME" problem (Steam?)

<t> Malwarebytes was acting up, wouldn't turn on its web protection. Their advice was a clean re-install, which solved that problem. Did a scan. Then started up Steam. So far, FC:RS is patiently awaiting my attention. If it starts up again, I'll come whining back again. There was a bunch of updates ...

General "END GAME" problem (Steam?)

<r> I have played the tutorial, and am looking forward to getting into this game, but WITE has been using a lot of time. Still, I have an impressive 80 hrs in FC:RS because the game runs <U><s></s>automatically<e></e></U>. As in: it's running right now, and I didn't start it, and have logged ...

RE: Disappearing install

Told Avast to let it go, hung up again on irsetup.exe, again told it to allow, then came the uninstall.exe denied. Have disabled UAC, looks like it's going to install (about 80% done). Everybody can go back to whatever it was they were working on.[;)]

RE: Disappearing install

Have now figured out that Avast was part of the problem, was blocking install. But it still hangs with an error on access to uninstall.exe denied. Could not open uninstall executable for writing.

RE: Disappearing install

Still nothing. Always disappears. Seems to randomly deny my ability to move the file (this time it refused to move it to Desktop, but did move it to another folder).

Disappearing install

<t> I have d/l the v2.0 installer at least 3 times. My first attempt to install started up, I input my serial no., then it not only quit running the install, but the installer .exe file disappears as well. This has happened twice more. In addition, I tried to move the installer from the Downloads ...

I like to call Hoover's Gap "the birth of the blitzkrieg."

RE: Questions - Resolution, and New Battles

<t> I kind of cheated with Hoover's Gap. It is fairly obscure, although of some historical note. The left of Rosecrans' army was to advance on Bragg via Hoover's Gap (Beech Grove, TN; I24 runs right through it) at the outset of the Tullahoma campaign. Wilder's Lightning Brigade (mounted infantry ...

RE: Questions - Resolution, and New Battles

<t> While I already consider you (i.e., all y'all) to be geniuses, you would be elevated to legendary status if you end up doing a release combining Stone's River and the Tullahoma Campaign (consider it the West in '63; Chick/Chatt being a release unto itself). More specifically for Tullahoma, the ...

RE: Any good books?

<t> I just happened across the Hess title you mentioned, and it is apparently a brand new release. It looks like it covers the same subject, and I'm wondering if it is a re-release of the book I recommended. I've read very little of Hess' work, but you'll note he seems to cover a little bit of ...

RE: Any good books?

<t> Yes on Griffith (the original British version had a different title, don't recall it), but the Hess book is "The Rifle Musket in Civil War Combat: Reality and Myth." I'm in the middle of Hess right now, and it's been years since I read Griffith, but they both make points (with strong supporting ...

RE: Any good books?

<t> If they are the books I'm thinking of, then I would consider them introductory. I tend to gauge books (in the absence of being able to thumb through them) by their length as compared to the subject. A 200 page book on Gettysburg will necessarily lack details, whereas a 600 page book on the ...

RE: Any good books?

<t> While not covered in this release, one of my all-time favorites (been reading and researching extensively for about 20 years) is "Taken at the Flood" by Joseph Harsh. An almost hour-by-hour breakdown of Lee's activities and decisions during the Maryland campaign. The great majority of the ...
