RE: Soviet Barbarossa

<t> Although its many years since I read it, in "Thunder on the Dnepr" by Brian Fugate & Lev Dvoretsky (1997)the basic premise is that although the Soviet High Command had wargamed the possibilities of a Soviet pre emptive attack in 1941, Soviet doctrine at the time was for the frontier formations ...

RE: Advice regarding difficulty in a game against AI

<t> I played as the Soviets on Hard with full FOW, historical weather and blizzard. The AI was quite adept in its advance but by the end of December 41 I still held on to Leningrad, Moscow and held the Germans at the Dnepr river.<br/>
<br/>
However, in 1942 the German AI didn't appear weaker at ...

RE: Victory Locations

Hi

You basically need to get as far as the Volga river along most of its length to win.

Help against AI on Hard

<t> I'm currently playing the Russian versus the German AI on hard. Its December 41 (again) and I broadly hold the line including Leningrad - Moscow - south to Kiev and then following the Dnepr river. So I thought I was doing pretty well.<br/>
<br/>
The main problem is that regardless of how well ...

Finally looking to start a new CG Closed

<r> Hi all<br/>
<br/>
Looking to play either side in a 41-45 CG. I'm of a respectable level and this would be my first game against a real opponent for a couple of years.<br/>
<br/>
No house rules as such but would prefer full FOW, standard weather with the +1 soviet bonus. <br/>
If you have ...

RE: Feedback on House Rules (No Lvov Pocket, Full Blizzard AND No RR unit thru Rumania!)

<t> Call me old fashioned but I'm of a view that if the rules allow something to happen then a player should be perfectly within their rights to do it. You'll find that if you agree to those house rules then your attack will become stalled at the Dnepr river in the south and against a good Russian ...

HTTR System crash

<t> I'm playing the Screaming Eagles scenario as Axis and I've started to get a "Command Ops has stopped working box", Please cancel, <br/>
on numerous occasions. I've noticed that the HTTR scenarios are somewhat bigger than the BFTB ones and it often takes over 5 minutes to load a scenario.<br ...

RE: Greyhound Dash Axis AAR by Daz

This AAR is amazing. Well done Daz. For your info, a shedload of allied reinforcements enter on Day 2 & 3 from the northwest edge of the map. Try and take Hotton by the end of Day 2 if you can. I look forward to more wonderful screenshots and artwork.

RE: Greyhound Dash Feedback

<t> This is my second time round playing BFTB as I had about 18 months off while I played GG War in the East to death. I used to micromanage quite a bit it the past but generally tend now to order at Battalion level. I've just finished Greyhound Dash as the German and got a Draw. Most disappointing ...

RE: Greyhound Dash Feedback

<t> Excellent maps by Daz. I've just finished playing this again as the Allies and have finally got the decisive victory.<br/>
<br/>
Things get hairy for the first two days but I feel that its important to hold a line as far as possible from Erezee-Amonines-Beffe, as well as trying to prevent ...

Greyhound Dash Feedback

<t> Hi Guys,<br/>
<br/>
Call me a glutton for punishment but I've played this scenario 5 times now over the last three weeks<br/>
and have not managed to obtain better than a marginal victory for either side. I've just started my 6th<br/>
game now as the allies. Does anyone have any hot tips on ...

RE: Question on tactics

<t> The Germans neither had the transport capability to land three divisions nor the combat ships to escort them in 1941. All the could hope to do was to keep the Soviet fleet bottled up in port by the threat of U Boats.<br/>
<br/>
If they had managed to land a much smaller force near Leningrad on ...

RE: are you kidding me

From the German point of view, after 1942, mud is a wonderful thing. It prevents you being attacked and gives you the chance to strengthen your defences.
