Re: Finish Theater Box Termination?

Stop trolling Redbunny; Hans is not "upset" he pointing out easily fixed, to me unbelievable oversights to do with the game tendency to follow the historical outcomes too closely.

That is a very good comment Weidrock, Or even once the German has removed all the Russians from the map?

Dennis it ...

Re: Finish Theater Box Termination?

Yes You as the master tester of Theatre boxes have found a very disturbing trend in the game. ALL the "errors" always favour the Russians. I had a good look at WITE 1 and found that in almost every category you wish to name that whenever there was an error such as those you have identified with ...

Re: baseline attrition ratio, will we ever find out what it is?

So then you can see my point then I guess. The book shows how for all the battles the Germans fought whether they were attacking or defended, outnumbered or not, no matter who they were fighting, they always took less casualties. For the Russian campaign the ratio is about 1:5. This is not an ...

Re: Finish Theater Box Termination?

Another important point redbunny is that these type of impossible "fantasy" results will occour in a Player to Player game when there is a big difference in the two players abilities, not just in games against the AI.

Re: Finish Theater Box Termination?

Hans is doing excellent work here on behalf of all you players, He should be congratulated.

The main problem with this game is it puts the German player in a straightjacket right from the start. It -assumes- that the there is only one way the Russian campaign and ww2 for that matter can play out ...

Re: Finish Theater Box Termination?

Settle Down Hans
If you say someone did something idiotic, the -inference- is that they -are- an idiot. That is how the English language is structured. That is what they are saying and it is correct, so drop it. I agree it is a seriously retrograde step putting Finland in a box, but pull your head ...

Re: Finish Theater Box Termination?

I see
So Eric? Its OK to credit someone with abuse they never said and that does not draw a warning ie like Zovs did?

So that means I can go around saying Zovs said such and such which he never actually said and thats OK?

Re: baseline attrition ratio, will we ever find out what it is?

Very good Joel thank you.
I don't know if you or Gary have read Dupuys book, But really if anyone is going to design a game about the eastern front it is compulsory reading.
The Germans had excellent staffwork -throughout- the war not just in 1941. Experience of the German troops may have declined ...

Re: baseline attrition ratio, will we ever find out what it is?

Hi Joel thanks for your answer.

Ok so you dont know OK fair enough, but can we find out then? or is this whole thread pointless?

The attrition we see in the game is irrelevant. I am asking if the starting point for the caculation is the same for Germans and Russians.

So is it impossible to find ...

Re: Finish Theater Box Termination?

But jumping into a thread and saying basically:

Re: baseline attrition ratio, will we ever find out what it is?

Hi Joel
Just to be crystal clear is -nationality- considered when the combat attrition is calculated? On a national level the Germans in any particular combat had a much lowered casualty ratio than the Russians. The reason for this was mainly consistently excellent German staff work at all levels ...

Re: baseline attrition ratio, will we ever find out what it is?

Hi Sammy5IsAlive,

The manual says this

"suffer additional attrition losses representing low intensity combat;"

So Joel what I mean it combat attrition and only combat attrition. My question is

As the Germans consistently received less casualties in these combats than the Russians (see "Numbers ...

baseline attrition ratio, will we ever find out what it is?

Hi Sammy5IsAlive, you said "I'm only doing one more post on this as it is not really relevant to Hans' original post."

So I made my own thread on the subject so you can help me here.

you said
"Just to add to the figures I gave from my own game. Total losses to date are 3906k Soviet losses and 454k ...

Re: Finish Theater Box Termination?

Dev Dev Dev are you there? please answer this question for me. What is the baseline ratio for attrition?

It is an important question, If you read "numbers predictions & war" by Colonel T.N. Dupuy you will find that the German army casualties were virtually always less than their opponents ...

Re: Finish Theater Box Termination?

Thanks again Sammy5IsAlive but not quite right, To be clear I am talking about the attrition that is allocated in the logistics phase.

There -is- a set ratio, that set ratio is then, as you say "affected" by "differnt factors"
Its a logic thing, you cant "affect" nothing. There -has- to be a ...

Ok Very good Sammy5IsAlive thank you for your reply,

I have another question for you if you have the time,

when the game applies attrition what ratio is it, vis a vie Germans versus russians? perhaps 1:1?

Re: Finish Theater Box Termination?

Oh I see sorry I did not take in the quote.

Because German supply is dependent on the length of the railways. If the Germans cant lengthen them (repair them) at the historical rate, well to me that would be a purposeful supply nerf designed to disadvantage the German player. This game is meant to ...
