Nice one unclean. I did save most of the images at > 95 jpeg quality, I had no idea it would make that much difference. My system's 4 years old so I figured if I could use these then everyone could... although I do have 8GB of RAM.

Also have a look at your race's preferred resources. Some of these grant global bonuses to colony growth or other things like development level or happiness which will help the process along.
