I don't see the downside to 'trading with foreign empires', exchanging maps or free trade agreements. I know you must have a good reason to say that, but what is it? What am I missing here?

If you weaponize your construction ships (and I do) you will get complaints when they refuel at foreign bases. I just ignore the complaints, but I guess it might affect your 'reputation'.

I'm not sure what you are calling a 'probe'. I was referring to an Exploration ship. In the Ship Design I just added a 'Troop Compartment', then have it 'load troops from nearest colony' before sending it out.

sgsmitty, I think you have to 1) research far enough along the 'fighter'/'bomber' tree to get to carrier and 2) your construction size must be large enough to build a carrier. There may be more involved that I am not aware of. My work-around was to add fighter bays to Capital & Cruisers.

YES!!! I tried cut-and-paste with no results. I tried manual searches with no results, but when I typed in what you posted there it was! Saved games successfully transported to 1.7.0.16. Thank you for the help.

Woodman and Haree88, thank you. I guess I'm doing something wrong. I looked in "Users" and found "Saved Games" but the folder was empty. Which makes no sense, since I've saved off a game since the update was installed. Oh well....
