Re: T-80 vs M1A1

Thank you for running that test. My reaction to it as one who can claim to be a subject matter expert, is that this is a quite unrealistic outcome. A dug in M1A1 company engaging a moving T-80B1 battalion in the open should win quite easily. Let's walk through the engagement. If the M1A1's engaged ...

Re: T-80 vs M1A1

I have played a few more scenarios and it is quite clear that the T-80 dramatically outclasses the M1A1 in this simulation. That is a shame, as it is pretty good in portraying other aspects of what the fighting would have been like in the late 1980s/early 90s.
I would add one more thing. The level ...

T-80 vs M1A1

I have played numerous scenarios and have a pretty good understanding of the game. I think that it is excellent, but would like some clarification on the way tank engagement outcomes are obtained. The reason for my question is that the T-80 seems to outclass the M1A1. I have repeatedly seen T-80 ...

Re: Invulnerable Helicopters

I am afraid I must respectfully disagree with the Master Gunner. I commanded an M1A1(HA) tank battalion in Germany from 1990-1992. We routinely trained tank crews to engage helicopters with the tank main gun. With proper lasing and tracking, the ballistic computer on the tank could apply the ...

Invulnerable Helicopters

I am greatly enjoying the new Flashpoint Cold War, and believe that, overall, it is an excellent simulation. There is a significant problem, however, with the play of helicopters. Apparently tanks, Bradleys and Marders cannot engage helicopters with their primary weapons. This is not realistic. I ...

Anti-aircraft units

Why does it cost a full admin point to assign an AA battalion to a city? The result is that most of your AA units spend the campaign or scenario piled in high level HQS where they do little (if any) good. Assigning other SUs to corps or divisions costs no admin points…. Even if they have to travel ...

RE: Frozen Unit or Glitch?

My game kept freezing during the AI turn. I was able to restart and play through it. But now it keeps crashing during the AI turn. Clearly there is a problem here.

DC Ardennes Order of Battle

<t> I have been very impressed with this game as a simulation. Its use of line of sight, and especially of the defenders' ability to fire on approaching forces makes it unique and more realistic than most. Its logistical system is also impressive.<br/>
What I do not understand is the mistakes ...
