RE: Enhanced AI (Maritime)

<t> Cheers Lancer, <br/>
<br/>
Yes, I am definitely talking early game, it very rapidly balances itself out as once the shooting starts. Preferable candidates for the big man's seat emerged pretty quick.<br/>
<br/>
It does feel a bit harsh in the first few turns but hey - as you point out ...

RE: Enhanced AI (Maritime)

<t> Hey Lancer - playing through a game with enhanced and realistic officers at the moment.<br/>
<br/>
First of all - love it, it adds loads of depth to the gameplay and creates a whole new dimension of management and strategic thought.[&o]<br/>
<br/>
But clearly there's a gripe coming, and here ...

Very little to add but...<br/>
<br/>
- I notice your raw is not upgraded yet (really worth doing - your engineers can't be fully committed building fortifications so get them onto upgrading raw if you can). <br/>

<r> Hey fella! Welcome aboard.<br/>
<br/>
Step 1<br/>
<br/>
As he's massing infantry...<br/>
<br/>
Build machine guns, machine guns, machine guns and some more machine guns...once dug in these will mince attacking infantry and should enable you to hold. <br/>
<br/>
Also - you need to build a ...

RE: Your views on HQs

<t> Ah - cheers guys. That makes sense.<br/>
<br/>
I normally tend to keep my formations fairly light (so staff rarely gets much above 100) , primarily to give me more flexibility and retain staff bonuses if the front becomes fluid. However with officer bonuses, larger formations will get more of ...

RE: Your views on HQs

<t> Another quick couple on HQs - does it matter how big your HQS are in terms of staff bonuses. To give a hypothitical example, if I have an HQ with 500 staff (all that gold braid and red tabs visible from space...) to maintain a large number of units below (so staff ratio 100%, does that reduce ...

RE: Enhanced Mod Suite

<t> @baloogan - I agree that the commerce raiders are a colossal pain in the a&se, but then again so were the Tirpitz, Bismark, Scharnhorst, Gneisnau, etc. The home fleet was essentially held in Scapa for years against the possibility they would break out into the Atlantic. <br/>

Also look ...

I always seem to get the "error in unpacking" (both the EM and thevNATOcounters) but all the buttons are there. I haven't had time to fire up a game yet (still closing down an existing one. Fingers crossed it'll work

RE: I stumbled on a "Great" use for Calvary

Cavalry are good but worth considering mounted infantry instead - you can get mobility but also a better unit mix (which can be more useful in mid and even late game) plus if they get good experience you can motorise or mechanise.

RE: Armoured Division composition

<t> @srndac @flanker leader - cheers guys!<br/>
<br/>
@jenska - hmmm, I know what you mean but I don't think it's that unbalanced. Generally tanks go through half tracks pretty quick (even given HTs are rear area) and on the defence a stiffening of bazookas in the infantry works well for me ...

RE: Armoured Division composition

<r> @srndac<br/>
<br/>
My question was a bit different to the one you answered but not entirely clear to be fair!<br/>
<br/>
It's not so much whether it makes sense to include artillery within divisions but do they get any advantage from sharing an HQ. <br/>

So, let's say I've got an ...

<t> Thanks guys (I go on holiday for a week and find plenty to mull over on my return). It seems I am not missing anything - riding on tanks in the assault is code named "operation certain death".<br/>

RE: Armoured Division composition

<t> Yes - that's basically where I had got to as well - mechanised inf in tandem with armour - but I was more intrigued if anyone else tries to have infantry ride on armour and not get consistently minced - is it just a nice option for when you are rolling victoriously across the steppe post ...

Armoured Division composition

<t> Ok, question for anyone and everyone.<br/>
<br/>
I've given up carrying infantry on my tanks because it seemed to be a waste of time. Losses on my panzer-grenadiers were consistently horrendous * . I now run pure tank armoured divisions. Typically 6 tanks and move infantry in separately either ...

RE: ATG: Wishlist thread

<t> Ok - solution - engineers can be air dropped - build an airfield, fly in the guns. a la Dien Bien Phu, Crete (OK they had to capture an airfield but the point stands). <br/>
<br/>
As engineers have no combat ability to speak of, it doesn't change the role of paras.<br/>

What have I ...
