I agree with spelk. Kudos on the patch. Many of the irritants I found in playing the game have been replaced with more user-friendly graphics and buttons.

Normal terrain distance for archers is 8 hexes. Could it be that those archers are sitting up in castle towers which may give them a distance advantage?

I haven't read the manual yet, so I'm just guessing.)

I've just finished the third mission and haven't had any problems with missing items from saves. I equipped the dagger to another member of my army and equipped the Beserker's axe to the main character before going into the third mission.
