Re: AI Torpedo Evasion...Impressive!

From feedback early in the game series, the ship images are enlarged (IIRC about 200-250%) to make them easier to see without having to zoom extremely far in; so indeed you may have a torp track pass through a ship image w/o a hit.
As far as the AI 'dodging' torp tracks, I can only repeat what I ...

Re: Raise Popularity for a 1950 Start Date

I'm all for a 1950 start. The moment you realize you need to sacrifice your precious BBs (and I DO love them!) because they really are too fragile and expensive to operate in a world filled with aircraft and anti-ship missiles was a great thing to contemplate in my first game. I only wish there was ...

Re: SHOWCASE: Queen Elizabeth needs a fix

I just looked it over, too. Noticed the lack of ordnance at Brunei, which I suppose may make sense given this contingency was just initiated and the tooth may be a bit more ahead of the tail. What doesn't make sense at all is that VMFA-211 on board QE has only GBU-32s in the magazine, with no ...

Re: Anyone finished Ford Class yet?

Spoilers below...

I've 'finished' it to my satisfaction, though there were plenty of buggy event issues. However this scenario really puts the USN on the back foot - it's scattered and out of position, CV aircraft aren't ready for any significant action for the first several hours, you need to ...

Re: RE: CMO RUNNING POLL - Gameplay feature requests

It's not up there but more sonar data would be nice and make ASW ops more engaging. Realtime info about platform self-noise, contact sound strength and sensor acuity at current speed would all be very useful in prosecuting sonar targets.

Self-noise indicator was added recently. Added the ...

Re: Anyone finished Ford Class yet?

Got it today. I'm running the first Osprey flight into the embassy now. Ran the RQ-180 over the city and spotted all the air defenses and sent a recon Hornet over Lubango. Have a planned TLAM and ARM strike on air defenses once the balloon goes up, but still waiting for a/c to prep. Not hitting ...

The Sovs have more brigades of double-digit SAMS than NATO has usable HARMS. Ouch!

Got it, thanks! BTW, is there a way to get the current selected hex to be highlighted?

Actions on Opponent's Turn

I'll get messages that a given unit is under fire from a certain hex but the message is up for just a second or two. How can I go back and review this info when it's my turn? As it stands I know my forces were shot at but I don't know who or from where.

Could of been that the Ford was still not in service the year of the scenario. That's been a hard luck ship.

RE: Brass Drum - Ospreys with Marines 24x loadout

Yeah, I wrote that scenario a long time ago and used the Ford. Not sure how the Bush got subbed in but there have been lots of changes to CMO since those early days. This is years before the cargo system or Lua showed up. It's great to hear people are still digging it, though!

RE: Detecting subs with sonobuoys?

When in doubt just fire a Ltwt torp on a bearing-only attack and see if it stirs anything up! [:D]

After all, how many torps did the RN fire during the Falklands war and how many subs did they hit with them? [semi-serious]

RE: About Northern Fury

<r> You do have to suspend disbelief for Northern Fury. It seems that every tin-plated, Soviet-aligned dictatorship is up to speed with a coordinated global sneak attack on NATO, while the Western powers somehow remain blissfully unaware of danger up to the last second. Of course nothing stops you ...

RE: Operation Brass Drum 2017

<t> Good write up! I wrote the scenario in the early, early (pre-release) days of CMANO. I remember thinking that a good solution for neutralizing Bandar Abbas was to have an airstrike follow a big TLAM strike in and neutralize SAM sites that were concentrating on the Tomahawks (this does work ...

[Ficed] LGB Out of Boresight

See a lot of this (unable to launch LGBs due to boresight) but this one is pretty bad. A flight of Harriers with Lightning Pod and GBU-16 on a naval strike mission don't appear to get into launch parameters for their LGBs at all and just circle their target.
