RE: Support squads - actively managed or?

<t> Thanks for the suggestions.<br/>
<br/>
From what I gather, the support squads do the repair work and help the admin rolls for the air leaders (which I think again only have to do with fixing planes) and that maps in with what I found. <br/>
<br/>
I had a bunch of bombers in bases that weren ...

RE: Support squads - actively managed or?

<t> Ah, the confusing terminology. What I think you're describing is support 'units' and there are tools to manage those<br/>
<br/>
The support 'squads' are different. The game describes them sort of implicitly, and you can see how many you have and how many are required at a given unit/HQ/airbase ...

Support squads - actively managed or?

I may be missing something, but I don't see any way to control support squads directly.

Is there more to it than reducing manpower usage and hoping they get created automatically and somehow wind up in useful places and quantities?

Trying new things - paradrops, amphibious, city bombing - can't execute

<r> I'm guessing the reasons are not related, but am toying with some new-to-me things to see what the limits are, and failing to get them to execute. <br/>
<br/>
Some of it I think might be UI being different than how I read the manual (and the forum) info on the matters in question - others ...

Soviet Generals in before they should be

<t> Hello,<br/>
<br/>
Running 1941 campaign, standard victory conditions, as Russians. Second turn I found a fairly good generals in a corps HQs I wanted to promote - Vasily Yushkevich of the 44th Rifle Corps.<br/>
<br/>
Strangely he didn't show as available to promote into higher commands. So I ...

Generals database - life expectancy, promotion etc.

<t> Playing Soviet. I have a bunch of generals who are listed in the editor database as having short lifespans. <br/>
<br/>
If I replace them, does their doom fall on their successors? In other words, say General X commanding the ABC Front has a 'last year/last month' of July 1941 and I promote ...

RE: Stealth General Yushkevich?

<t> Thanks for the suggestion. Running a stock 1941 Campaign, so fired up the editor for that one.<br/>
<br/>
The CSV shows a bunch of German Generals that show up mid-game (i.e. have Available Years/Months after 6/22/41) that have non-zero delay numbers.<br/>
<br/>
The CSV also shows a bunch of ...

Interesting. He was here June 22. There are a couple more stealth generals as well.

RE: Stealth General Yushkevich?

<t> Thanks for the reply. That's where he was and his divisions were undisturbed. So that's not it.<br/>
<br/>
Playing turn 2 now. I moved him out of harms way His unit shows up on Commander Report now, but he still doesn't. Hope he'll show up soon so I can promote him up. If not, I'll put decent ...

Stealth General Yushkevich?

<t> Playing turn 1 as Soviet. Found a rifle corps in an exposed situation and scoped out its leader. He had a very good rating so I thought I'd promote him up to a safer berth.<br/>
<br/>
The general is Vasily Yushkevich - unit is 44th Rifle Corps. Located near Minsk - at least as I start turn 1 ...

RE: Zero rail capacity? What happened?

Thanks for the fast reply. That must be it. I'd taken a full load of units as far as they could go and didn't have enough strategic movement points to de-train them....didn't know it soaked up the next turn's capacity. Live and learn!

Thanks again!

Zero rail capacity? What happened?

<t> Playing an email game as Axis. Not sure why, but for some reason the most recent turn fired up and I have zero rail capacity. This is odd as ordinarily I get about 8K-12K a turn. <br/>
<br/>
I have been using it up as it becomes available, so ended the last turn at zero. Fire up today's battle ...
