RE: Support units

Many thanks for all the responses. It seems like the answer depends on the circumstances and each player's tactical approach.

Cheers

Support units

<t> <br/>
Hi<br/>
<br/>
I'm just wondering what people's views are on the number of support units to attach to a Soviet army HQ. I note that a maximum of six support units can join any one battle, but an army HQ may fight several battles in a single turn. Also, it seems that a player can attach ...

RE: Soviet biplanes

I left them on automatic upgrade. I didn't think this would lead to my best aircraft being replaced by my worst.

RE: Soviet biplanes

<t> Hi<br/>
<br/>
More on Soviet biplanes. I used the manual reallocation system and precious APs to replace a lot of biplanes (eg I-15s and I-153s) with useful planes (eg Yaks, Las, etc). Two turns later, I notice the damn AI has replaced Yak-7s with I-153s. How can I stop this? Is there anyway ...

Soviet biplanes

<t> <br/>
Hi<br/>
<br/>
I've noticed that the Soviets keep producing the U-2VS well into 1942. The information for the biplane seems to indicate that the Soviets keep producing U-2VS until the end of the war.<br/>

What use are they in the game? They do little on a bombing mission and they ...

RE: Soviet morale problem

Thanks, everyone. It looked to me like Soviet national morale was only 40, although this is not what the rule book says. Oh well. I'll just add it to the long list of mistakes I have made.

Soviet morale problem

<t> <br/>
Hi<br/>
<br/>
I have noticed a recent problem with the morale of Soviet divisions. I am playing the Soviets in two PBEM games and both games are in 1942. My practice is to keep new divisions out of the frontline to allow them to build up. Recently, however, the morale of new divisions ...

Soviet Front HQs

<t> <br/>
Hi<br/>
<br/>
I'm wondering whether it matters how close an Army HQ is to its Front HQ. I'm playing the Soviets against another human player and it is May '42, but I have almost no APs. When I shift an army from one part of the front to another, I sometimes change the Front HQ to which ...

RE: Is it over for the USSR?

<t> <br/>
Thanks for the comments and advice, Roger. I've decided to keep playing the game. If nothing else, it will give my opponent the satisfaction of a clear win come summer '42. [8D]<br/>

If I ever start another game, I might try both sides on 90% logistics and 90% transport.<br/>

RE: Is it over for the USSR?

<t> <br/>
Many thanks for these links, Roger.<br/>
<br/>
We are playing with mild blizzard option, so I'm not looking forward to the summer of '42. I lost all of the factories in Tula and a bunch of heavy industry and armaments factories elsewhere, so I'm not sure of the Soviet capacity to ...

Is it over for the USSR?

<t> <br/>
Hi<br/>
<br/>
I'm a newbie and playing the Soviets and it is Turn 15 (25 Sep 41). The Germans have taken Leningrad, Kiev, Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporozhye, Odessa and Tula. Kharkov is surrounded and will fall next turn. If I'm lucky, I will hold Orel, Kursk, Stalino and Sevastapol until the ...

Beginner looking for PBEM opponent

<r> <br/>
Hi<br/>
<br/>
My name is Gary James. I'm looking for a play by email opponent for War in the East. I would prefer to play the 1941-45 campaign as the Soviets, but I'd be happy to play any scenario or campaign as either side, although I don't have the expansion to the game. So far, I ...

Headquarters

<t> <br/>
Hi<br/>
<br/>
I'm another newbie. I'm trying to work out what value there is in having multiple levels of headquarters. I'm playing the Soviets in 1941, but I think the same issue would come up for the Axis. The Soviets have corps headquarters, army headquarters, front headquarters and ...
