Thank You Martix for buying Battlefront

I have been a long time player of the Combat Missions series going back to the first game. I at least three of the newer ones but constant issues with activating the license, deactivating the license with Battlefront was such a pain in the rear I essentially quit playing them. I saw the Combat ...

RE: Stickied thread for minor database issues?

Can someone look at the fuel load and range of the USN's new FF(X). I am using them in a scenario and even at 18 knots their range is 173 miles.

<t> I am modernizing Operation Brass Drum to take place in 2027 in Which Iran has heavily modernized its forces through arms purchases from China and Russia. I am also updating the US order of battle and I want to add the AIM-260 and its capabilities to my aircraft but I can't figure out how to add ...

RE: Naval bombardment too inaccurate?

<t> Yes hitting a small fast target is a pain in the ass. When I was in the Persian gulf the Iranians would attack us using Boghammers. They were capable of speeds of 50kts. Shooting at them with the 76mm on a Oliver Hazard Perry class frigate and scoring direct hits was difficult. Most of the time ...

RE: Naval bombardment too inaccurate?

<t> Naval gunfire is horribly incorrect both against shore targets and ships. People have posted that Korean war era ships would be inaccurate which is incorrect as well, The analog ballistic computers the Navy used were really good. When the Iowa class battleships were reactivated in the 80's it ...

RE: Naval bombardment too inaccurate?

I was there during operation preying mantis, the vast majority of shots fired on the platforms were hits. A lot of the misses came from firing through the platform without hitting any infrastructure. Hitting the oil platform was no challenge at all.

Careful with those Iranian subs, they are hard to detect and can easily be stumbled upon.

RE: Loving this Sim

<t> I too am playing this scenario. You have to make sure you edit the rules of engagement for your plotted missions or individual aircraft to remove "Engage Non Hostile Targets" this will prevent you from firing on the Russians. What has been your strategy so far? I used mass tomahawk cruise ...

Actually the Arleigh Burks vital areas are protected by 2 layers of steel and 70 tons of Kevlar Armor, they were the first ships to incorporate armor since ww2, not to mention they re all steel construction.

How about the ability to have multiple windows. I would love the ability to create zoom windows on targets and place them on my 2nd monitor to eliminate the constant zooming in and out.

RE: Max range of 406mm/50

<t> The armor modeling needs some work, I was able to sink the New Jersey with SSN2B stix missiles. The worst the stix would do to a Iowa class is mess up the paint. None of the anti ship missiles were designed to penetrate armor belts they would be completely incapable of penetrating an Iowa class ...

<t> I served as a gunners mate onboard the Iowa in Turret #1. We could hit targets ACCURATLY out to 23 miles. The Mk-8 was such a good fire control computer that when the Iowa's were modernized in the 80's a modern digital computer couldn't do the job any better. We did experiments using a 7th ...

Corrections to the Iowa Class Battleships

The max range of the guns is way to low, 15 and 17 miles. The Iowa's were capable of hitting targets out to 23 miles. I am trying to create a scenario that replicates the New Jersey bombarding Syrian and Druze targets in retaliation for the 1983 embassy bombing.

RE: Command v1.04 Release Candidates thread [CURRENT: RC6 - B553]

Sweet, it worked perfectly....thank you so much. I love this simulator. When I was in the Navy, I used to run the Nav Tag tournaments for the officers. This brings back so many memories.
