RE: Resort Income

<t> This is something I would really like to see changed. It is the same problem with Stardrive's mercantilism income...you have to check at some very specific moment to see it, or it is gone, with no record.<br/>

RE: Resort Income

Sounds like a balance issue then, or possible something that is broken.

This seems especially crippling for any victory condition that relies on resorts.

Hopefully will get some attention in the next patch.

RE: Resource info

<t> I have wondered about this as well. I always assumed it was some measure of quality / quantity, and the extraction rate seems like a reasonable explanation. Really weird that there is no obvious explanation in the Help System.<br/>

RE: Resort Income

<t> Bummer! I noticed this in my last game, I had a resort up and running for years at a scenic location, and had passenger ships traveling around. I also had a free trade agreement and very close relations with my nearest neighbor, and I was getting migrants from their empire all the time. But the ...

RE: What's the point of having different transports?

<t> I would love to see some dymystification here. It certainly would make sense for the AI to optimize itself in this way, but it doesn't sound like it does. Maybe this is something that can be tweaked in the future. <br/>

RE: Forcing orbiting ships to stay put?

<t> This is a problem for me as well. I have all empire policies set to manual control, and my fleets on manual. However, I still find the fleet settings going back to default on a regular basis. This is a real problem early on especially when I might have only a few weak ships, and they go running ...

RE: Do civilians retrofit yet?

<t> Seems to happen fairly quickly in my experience. I am trying to be cautious about too many upgrades because I imagine the retrofit costs could be a drain on the private sector, and also the times needed to do it. I try to save my retrofits for major upgrades, rather than small minor upgrades of ...

RE: Mines vs. Mining Ships

<t> Wow lots of interesting information. Very helpful. <br/>
<br/>
It does seem like some balance is needed if the private sector isn't going after high demand (ie: resource shortage) resources. High demand would equal high price, so if my empire is short on, say, caslon, and there is caslon ...

RE: Mines vs. Mining Ships

<t> Right, that makes sense, but what about mining that valuable world with a mining station, or leaving it to the private sector mining ships? Does it always make sense to put a mine on a world that you want resources from? Since there is no way to direct the private sector, that seems to be the ...

RE: Suggestion: Subsidies

<t> I would like to see a subsidies / stimulus mechanic for several areas.<br/>
<br/>
Sword of the Stars II had a decent mechanic for this. You could pump imperial funds into colonization, mining, or trade. The private sector would then produce more in that sector. DW could definetly benefit from ...

Mines vs. Mining Ships

<t> Having gotten back into the game with Shadows, I realize that I have a bit of a basic lack of understanding about Mines and Mining Ships. When does it make sense to build mines? Since cargo transports are the ones that pick up resources from mines, once you build a mine, the actual mining ships ...

RE: What's the point of having different transports?

<t> This is a very interesting discussion. I just kind of assumed that it made sense to have various levels. Would be nice to know if there is any actual gameplay considerations behind it. Cost does make sense, but I'm curious about the cost / benefit of several small freighters versus one large ...

RE: Pirates are far to strong

<t> In both games I have played so far, using default pirate settings, I haven't had a huge problem with pirates. I have refused to pay them, and they have attacked. In both games, I built some extra troops at the start and fended off their invasions (although one raid did steal some resources ...

RE: Private economy no longer works effectively

<t> I actually had the opposite problem. Early on the private sector built a bunch of ships, but they didn't have much to do and ended up forming a neat little parking lot near my home world. Not sure why multiple freighters were built when they wouldn't have any work. Once I got some more mining up ...

RE: Shadows Strategy Discussion

<t> So far my first game in Shadows has been fairly easy. I faced some pirate attacks and invasions early on, but managed to end them off without serious losses. Now they seem to be just leaving me alone. I have just established my first colony in another system. Have had more trouble with ships ...
