Daz, I'm not sure if Dave is following this thread, maybe you should start a new one in the Tech Support.

RE: How do I fight a defensive battle effectively?

We should collect all your posts and make a book!

Plus, why both of them use left echelon formation? And the route setting applies to the route to FUP, right?

RE: How do I fight a defensive battle effectively?

<t> Thank you very much Daz, I've got infiltrated then overran and encircled... Nice move, AI! This is really helpful, I'll try it out.<br/>
<br/>
Plus, just wondering shouldn't the resting units wake up automatically if see an attack coming? Or do I need give them a new order to do so? Is there ...

RE: How do I fight a defensive battle effectively?

<t> Always enjoy reading your posts, Daz. One question please:<br/>
<br/>
My units hold the line reasonably well during the day, good position well dug in, but when it's gone dark, they all go to bed and apparently enemy take the advantage and break my line. How do you defend at night? No rest ...

RE: Elsenborn Ridge 3rd run through

This is amazing! Very well elaborated! Would also like to see the order locations as well, but this is very good! Thank you Daz, really looking forward to it.

RE: Long term plan

Oh yeah, this is what I have been wondering all the time especially after finished with decisive victory, I talk to myself, this could change the whole history, we might be able to push to Antwerp eventually, I might have to speak German now... OK, a bit of too much...

RE: Exit command not carried out?

<r> Well, the last engagement was at 18:50, the screen shot's taken at 23:47, I presume it's long enough? <br/>
<br/>
The reason why there's no 'new order' message in the log is because the unit didn't directly receive the order, it was passed down from the battalion HQ. I've attached the HQ's log ...

RE: Exit command not carried out?

<r> Thanks for the replies guys.<br/>
<br/>
Yes, they are motorised, but every one of them has sufficient fuel (at least 1k). The problem is not they don't move, they would always move to the location but then sit defending forever.<br/>
<br/>
See the attached screen shot with the message log of ...

RE: Exit command not carried out?

<r> Hi Daz,<br/>
<br/>
Thanks for the reply, been enjoying your Elsenborn Ridge AAR!<br/>
<br/>
Anyway, I've attached a screen shot, the exit command was given to the Bn HQ at 16:17, low arggo no rest, and at the time is 20:06, all its subordinates including the HQ are performing the defend (as ...

Exit command not carried out?

<r> So I've been playing Elsenborn Ridge, what puzzles me is that no matter how hard I try, very rarely my units with exit command would actually exit the map, in most cases, they would move to the location and defend there until the end of the scenario. <br/>
<br/>
The exit point is definitely ...

RE: Elsenborn Ridge AAR by Daz

Great!! Get excited reading this!
I spent a couple of weeks on and off on this scenario, tried all sorts of tactics, could not even get a marginal victory, which led to think, history happened for a reason.
Keep on Daz, I will have to daily check your update :)
