When you are retrofitting your space ports keep in mind that if you are in the construction yards window you can't upgrade your small space port to a medium or large one, or I can't anyway. I have to actually select the SP, right click, then tell it to retrofit from that menu.

I forgot what the units are called, maybe special ops, but land a couple of them on that planet and they'll take care of the planetary shields within seconds then proceed with your bombing if you'd like.

I'm using a SSD with i7 980 @4.1g w/ 12 gigs of ram. In mid/late games with 1400 stars/largest maps my load/save times can take up to two minutes.

I play the game at 2x speed most of the time so I would find it pretty annoying to have those sound effects. A toggle for something like that would be good, however.

I usually have one hot-keyed and have it follow my main fleet around. It save a lot of time to always have a nearby refueling point.

I find this is the best way to deal with resupply ships.

I like to play random with random government, especially with the DW Extended mod. I like having to experience something new or having to switch up some of my strategies every time I start up a game.
