The effects folder needs to put under the images folder located in the customization you are using.

They are actually included in Human Revolution so you could take them from there.

It should, it still uses the same file format and most, if not everything should work, I used it with shadows for a long time so it should still work.

Or you know, do what the game recommends and create a mod folder for it (Otherwise known as a theme), anything not included in the mod (theme) folder is taken from the base game so no harm done, instructions can be found in the modding guide I believe.

When I ran into the issue, researching larger construction fixed it for me. Might be the recent updates for Shadows though as it was with a recently updated version I was playing.

I recommend checking to see if you can build ships of that size, if not research, if they have the shields, drives, etc. I recommend selecting as many ships setting them to refit manually. As for the mouse, that confuses me, check to see if it's the same with other games.

You will need a folder and name it what ever you want IE: I have ship names in here.

Place the shipNames.txt file in that folder and load it up in the main menu, anything not changed or edited will be loaded from the game its self.
