Re: New Public Beta - v1128 Live Now!

My point is that some 10 years ago, kamikazes would inflict damage very close to historical. Something has happened in the patches since then has nerfed them.

Also, regarding the other carrier aircraft not on CAP - they were 300 miles away escorting their own bombing mission, thus, unavailable for ...

Re: New Public Beta - v1128 Live Now!

You're missing the point. The whole reason why early kamikaze missions were successful has to do with time and space. Aircraft closing in on ships on a one-way mission could only be shot down by opposing fighters one at a time. With defensive armament, some may take a few passes to down. An aircraft ...

Re: New Public Beta - v1128 Live Now!

Grok believes Patch 1.01.24 or Patch 1.01.08 might be the culprits in nerfing kamikazes. Perhaps we're seeing a nerf that represents late-war Allied tactics that largely neutralized kamikaze effectiveness. Regardless, it's frustrating as all get out to labor carefully over months of real time to ...

Re: New Public Beta - v1128 Live Now!

Hakko Ichio.

It's not just me, my opponent says that the shift was from kamikaze attacking in a large wave vs. now with piecemeal. Few of the aircraft get through. We've had about 25 kamikaze missions so far from May 1944 to August 1944, losing about 400 aircraft (with this scenario, the Japanese ...

Re: New Public Beta - v1128 Live Now!

No, the latest patch in a PvP game.

It used to be that Kamikazes came in one large wave and a few got through, closely simulating the fact that from the 10 months from October 1944 to VJ Day in 1945 (per Wiki):

"According to the United States Strategic Bombing Survey, from October 1944 until the ...

Re: New Public Beta - v1128 Live Now!

Which patch rendered kamikazes completely ineffective compared to historical norms? I'm seeing large groups of kamikazes achieving about a 4% hit rate, if that, with fighter CAP routinely clearing all of them out before reaching the target - and the few that make it through unlikely to hit anything.

Re: Correcting 1941 game balance

And, regarding the observation, now made twice, about the importance of the first turn in the game for the Germans - that's my point. A game dependent on having an ahistorical first turn to even attempt to reach a historical 1941 campaign has a serious flaw - insofar as a game that is modeling ...

Re: Correcting 1941 game balance

Another tweak to experiment with might be to reduce the turn length from 7 days to 5, correspondingly reducing the movement points by 2/7th. This might somewhat reduce the IGYG artificiality of the gameplay.

Re: Correcting 1941 game balance

"The German army captured 3.35 million Soviet prisoners of war (POWs) in 1941, which was higher than the Red Army's reported number of missing by up to one million."

There are five months from invasion to November, at 100K per week (turn), that's about 2.1 million Red Army POWs. Right in line with ...

Re: Correcting 1941 game balance

Well, again, massively ahistorical for such a detailed wargame.

In the south, the Germans only pocketed the 6th and 12th Armies around Uman by 2 August. Prior to that, the Red Army conducted vigorous tank attacks northeast of Lvov, these holding up the German advance for a few days.

The Germans ...

Correcting 1941 game balance

I still find that, between two equally matched players - or simply an experienced Red Army player - it remains impossible for the German army to achieve historical 1941 results.

Of course, this is because the Soviet player has the foresight to know what's coming and to know the capabilities of the ...

Re: Game results - Tell us how your 2 player game ended

I've consistently seen the same. An experienced Soviet player will suffer no encirclements after turn 1 - and then not lose Leningrad. There needs to be some sort of HQ allocation system in the early going that prevents the Soviets from giving orders to all Fronts.

I have finished 5 games Human ...

Advanced at both. Whatever side you wish.
By "TB Close" you mean not using Theater Control?
"Reduce retreat attrition" are you referencing the new beta version that allows for that?

Crash on moving air units

Player vs. computer.
Latest patch as of 04MAY24, moved Axis air units up (shift key) and game froze. Had to shut down.

Late game fighter plus ups for naval aviation

Been playing Hakko Ichiu campaign as Japanese against an evenly-matched Allied player. Sunk far more Allied carriers and battleships than historical (and he, the same), took the North Island of New Zealand, and am in now in May 1944 with the Allies invading Luzon 6 months ahead of historical.

One ...

Re: New v1.03.05 Public Beta Now Available!

It seems to me that the easiest way to fix the scenario is to cause the harsh winter penalties to be switched on and off a few times during the first winter.

Re: New v1.03.05 Public Beta Now Available!

With an experienced opponent, is anyone still seeing a continuation of the two largest remaining flaws in WITE2 1941 campaign: the inability of the Axis to even remotely hit their historical line of advance and the utter destruction of the Axis forces due to winter?

It seems to me, having played ...
