RE: This is the benchmark

I agree. The hardcover manuals arrived yesterday and they are impressive! The combination of the manuals, the video tutorials and all of the information available here makes the learning process much easier. This is what I dreamed of back when I bought the original game.

RE: Nice...and fast d/l

<t> I'm lucky to have 13mbps fiber optic service (out in the middle of nowhere, too!) so the download took approximately thirty minutes. I remember downloading a patch for WITP back in '04 over a 56K modem. I had to stand watch near the land line phone for hours to make sure no one picked up the ...

Matrix Games -- My heroes!

<t> I just pushed the button and committed to what should be, with luck, a few thousand hours of enjoyable grognardom. RE: Disappointing Rollout

I'll respectfully disagree -- I'm pretty sure there have been past releases that became available later in the day, but still on the release date. Erik has stated that WIF can be purchased mid day today. Just a few more hours after such a long wait.

RE: AH D-Day

<r> I just passed my 35th anniversary as a wargamer. Longer than that, if you count my many failed attempts at designing and constructing my own games. (I even used a <I><s></s>Lite Brite<e></e></I> machine for a time.) On Columbus day of '78 I bought Tactics II for five dollars at a mall toy ...

RE: Pricing on release

<t> I'm going to guess a price (not a "price point" -- a trendy term I despise) of $120 for WIF. I hope it will turn out to be another WITP/AE in hours played and enjoyment received. I think I spent about $150 on WITP/AE, the game map and notepads and pens for keeping track of things. I have put in ...
