RE: bomber fire

IMHO and experience the Allies do knock down and damage fighters. I play Japanese side. Mostly the bombers damage and only rarely knockdown a fighter.
What version of the game?
What scenario are you using?

RE: P-40 cruise speed?

Also as a plane is in combat conditions [combat is harsh and repairs are often done in less than ideal conditions and with less than ideal parts] all planes will struggle to meet published stats. So IMHO the game has the correct value.

RE: Few bombers

Make sure you increase production of the TB and DB types you are short of.
Also make sure units that you want replacements have replacements on and those you do not have replacements set to off.

RE: How do I create Air Groups

As Lokasenna said.

Using the editor you can create more float plane air groups; but only can use them if you would start a new game using that user defined scen.

<t> Keep bombarding them from the air, sea, and land until out of supplies. One way to see if low/out of supplies is on combat playback to see if anti aircraft guns fire at your planes. Wait until out of supplies then attack. Also build up a three times the combat strength as Rabaul has then attack.<...

Texas natural gas and oil fields are among the few places on planet earth that Helium can be extracted from; the USA in WW1 and WW2 had a monopoly on it.

RE: OT: Hitler, atom bomb and resources

<t> Considering the amount of money the US spent, it is VERY unlikely. The A-bomb was second most expensive program in WW2, the B-29 most expensive. USA did BOTH!!! Germany could not afford either (unless no V-1,V-2,V-3 programs and curtail some other conventional weapons). Was it possible, perhaps ...

FiFi engines are non-turbocharged. I have seen the plane and did the tour of it on the ground. Has a NORDEN bombsight that was donated by Paul Tibbits himself. See the aircraft as soon as you can it is great time!
