RE: Paradrop

<t> Hi Gary,<br/>
<br/>
Here's what's supposed to happen. You click on the 7th card, then click "PLAY CARD" when that button shows up. This opens a little inset map that shows all the eligible hexes (the highlighting is a little hard to see because of the fog of war highlighting). Then click on a ...

RE: Paradrop

In Sealion, you select a Paratrooper or AirLanding reinforcement card and then select an eligible hex to land in.

Problem Getting a Steam Key

<t> Hello,<br/>
<br/>
I bought this game either from Matrix or Slitherine (don't remember) back in 2013, I think. I've located the serial number among the game folders etc and I'd like to get a Steam key but I don't seem to be able to. It probably has something to do with my original PW and ...

RE: Confederate Flag

Well, your rig's better than mine, so I'll have to think about this a little.
Excellent detail re the flag. Kudos to the developers!

<t> This looks like an awesome game. I like the unusual selection of battles. Wilson's Creek! Are you kidding me?<br/>
<br/>
Questions:<br/>
1) I've been watching some YouTube vids of this and the game seems to run very slowly. Is this true, or am I not seeing something right?<br/>

DWG Files

<t> Hello, <br/>
<br/>
I just bought the game on Steam. When I went to save my first game, I see that the save files are designated .DWG files. This is the same as my AutoCAD Drawing files, which are also .dwg. So the autosaves in the save game folder appear as Acad Drawing files and not Distant ...

RE: So Freeking Close

<t> Thanks for the tip, Rasputitsa. I was able to get rid of the armored in city problem. <br/>
Interestingly, though, NoPanzers vs Panzers mod DOES work in my version. Inf attacks armor at 90%.<br/>
Everything else works, including rivers, except terrain--which is still pretty major, but at least ...

RE: So Freeking Close

<t> I get the armored in city modifier all the time, regardless of terrain or scenario. Armor always defends at 50%. This wreaked havoc on my PBEM Fall Gelb scenario. The German player was stymied at the French border. Rommel's panzer divisions kept surrendering!<br/>
Terrain modifiers don't work ...

RE: So Freeking Close

<t> I meant to say that the "armor in city" modifier is being applied even when no city is involved in the combat. <br/>
If these problems have been around since 1.01, I guess there's little hope of them getting fixed.<br/>
Everything seems to work fine in Time of Wrath, though, and I'm having a ...

RE: So Freeking Close

Well, if that's the case, I'd advise against upgrading to 1.06, given the combat mod issue. the Production problem mentioned in another thread is still there too.

Pacific Campaign

<t> I love this game, but I have a little problem with the Campaign game. I'm playing as the Allies vs AI Japan. I find that the AI seems to pay no attention to the Time at Sea rule. I opened up my campaign and had a look at the AI's units and all its ships had been at sea since turn 1. Maybe not ...

RE: So Freeking Close

<t> Agreed. I have the Steam version of the game. I'm a long-time wargamer and I think that this could be one of the best games out there, but......<br/>
In my version, armor always defends against non-armor with an "Armor in City" penalty of 50%. Also, most terrain is not being counted; i.e ...

7th Flieger Div

<t> I just started the France 40 campaign and was wondering where people usually drop the 7th Flieger Div? I dropped mine in the vicinity of Doorn in the hopes of capturing some bridges. Even though I didn't get any bridges, the paras still disrupted the defense in that area, making it far easier to ...

RE: Strategic questions for a noob

"Linked Scenario Campaign" is what you're looking for. "1st Panzer Army" is the name of the campaign.

Yes, this game and The Blitzkrieg Warsaw to Paris are indeed both awesome. The lack of activity is hard to explain. Must be frustrating for the devs, though, I imagine.

RE: Couple of questions?

<t> Hi Mantrain,<br/>
<br/>
There's no way to undo a move. At first, it's pretty easy to mis-move a unit, but it gets better as you become accustomed to the interface. I suppose the lack of this feature is to prevent players from artificially reconning the battlefield and then undoing the moves ...

RE: Thoughts on the game..

<r> Those sound great, Erik! I'm really looking forward to it, Market-Garden and Torch especially (in addition to Norway and Crete). But I'd rather wait for finished product before playing simply because I'd rather buy this stuff. I played The Switzerland scenario posted in the Scenario Bank and ...

RE: New Player - I want to like CB

Coudln't agree more, Howie. One of the joys of board wargaming is reading/studying the rules manual. This aspect of our hobby is always lost in computer gaming, but shouldn't be, in my opinion.

RE: Thoughts on the game..

<t> Wow, so much good stuff in this thread. Wodin, I agree with this completely: "I've been diving into the game recently and I have to say it's by far the best wargame at this scale I've played by far. Really is a gem and deserves far more credit and should be a wargame all wargamers worth their ...

RE: New Player - I want to like CB

<r> 1 - I saw in an AAR a map view that expanded the hexed and "un-stacked" the units. I think it provides a quick way to scan forces without having to click on every hex. How is this done? <br/>
