RE: Gunnery system

<t> Willie: Will check on that, dont know the conditions set in the tutorial mission. I do know that I didnt see an increase in accuracy shell per shell; the miss values seem to be generated by a RNG. There was no appreciable difference between shooting at mid or close range. I will say that my ...

RE: How much can you do with the LCS?

<t> No. In 1995, the USMC stated that their requirements for fire support was 63nm. The arsenal ship trainwreck that preceeded the current LCS trainwreck was envisioned as a massive crusie missile platform. <br/>
My point was that part of the marketing for the LCS modular design when it came about ...

<t> Hey guys...been away from the game quite awhile due to RL commitments...<br/>

RE: How much can you do with the LCS?

<t> At one point during the debate for reactivating the battleships the charge was made that while the battleships were incapable in present configuration of achieving the USMCs requirement for naval fire support (63nm in support of amphib forces), it was suggested that the LCS WOULD be able meet it ...

RE: How much can you do with the LCS?

<t> Actually...the LCS WERE designed for direct combat. Their modular design was touted as being adaptable, and one of the interim steps the Navy envisioned to replace the Naval surface fire support role void left by the removal of the battleships.<br/>
Like many pork barrel projects, the LCS was ...

RE: CV air ops..CAP and Alert 5

My humblest apologies gentlemen. After review and experimentation I realized I didn't have enough A/C assigned to my CAP mission (only had 5 instead of 6) so my birds were launching singly. Just cancelled a CAP mission and reassigned a new one and both F14s launched together. So Solly!!!!

<t> As JD said...the ship's FC system generates a solution based on ownship movement AND target movement, and predicts future movement. Is it 100%? Hardly. Believe it or not, a large ship (BB/BC) moving at 30+ knots doesnt actually travel that far in the time it takes a salvo to cover the distance ...

RE: Units disobeying their missions, flying dumb

Sar,
Do you have the box that tells them to investigate contacts checked on your missions? I had this problem where my CAP would wander off randomly towards ESM hits. Checked the editor and unchecked that box...problem *seems* to have been fixed...

RE: Question: Strike Escort or AAW Patrol?

Situational and threat level dependent Im sure. Personally I dont like to saddle the fast movers with the strike package; the only escort I would use would be SEAD birds. Keep the fighters separate and run them on MiG sweeps/OCA

RE: Max range of 406mm/50

<t> This is correct. Warspite did have the longest gun hit in history. I want to point out that Warspite was a World War I retread and managed to pull off tthis remarkable feat. The Iowa's in World War II, even with the Mk 8 radars, had a much more accurate and reliable FCS. After the 80's refits ...
