Is there any kind of logistics reason not to move them to the Med? For example, will it eat up shipping to keep these forces supplied in Italy, or even North Africa? In a similar vein, if I dump too many forces into Sicily, will I be ...

RE: Army Group Structure question

<t> I do notice that when you auto-assign to the nearest HQ, it skips any HQ's that are already full up on command point upkeep. That's probably why they got attached to the army directly. As for whether it's better to assign to Corps HQ's or not, I assume there is a benefit there somewhere or why ...

RE: Refit - how does it work best?

<t> I had this happen on a small scale in my current game. Had a stack of 3 divisions needing refitting and sent them to a port town to refit. I thought the port was close enough to the front lines, but after a few turns, no replacements were getting to any of them. I moved them directly behind ...

If I am not mistaken, Other Loss VPs refer to casualties who are not of US nationality.

Try overlapping the naval interdiction missions. It's very important to gain naval interdiction before an invasion and if your numbers remain low, that means he's probably trying to contest your interdiction, so create more than one mission ...

RE: When to move Amphib HQs to Britain?

<t> I send the Amphib HQ units back after I sent the AFHQ into Sicily (or wherever I choose to send the invasion) once the area around the invasion area is secure. Essentially, once I shipped everybody (minus Air Force HQ's and such) and before reinforcements usually start arriving in N. Africa, I ...

RE: Attacking across straight of Messina

<t> I have not had that much issue attacking across the straights, myself. I might get a couple units routed, but as long as I keep units in reserve behind those attacking from the ferry, I seem to have success to bust through into Italy. Of course, one of the beauties of the game is being able to ...

<t> If I choose to have the AI choose, I'll always check what it does before committing to it if it needs tweaked. I don't always like the targets the AI chooses and sometimes the AI makes some odd decisions. For example, in my current game, when Italian units defect in Sardinia and Corsica, my ...

RE: Unplayable

<t> I wouldn't necessarily think learning this game is impossible. It takes time, sure, but you don't need to spend a college course to learn it. PDF manuals are great. Type in the keyword of what you're scratching your head over and it usually points you to the spot you're looking for. That's what ...

<t> When setting up a custom game, when you click on the difficulty slider, it'll tell you on the top of the window what it effects. I can't remember off the top of my head of all it does, so that's why I mention it. I know setting up a decent economy in very hard difficulty has always been a PITA ...

If you have any colony governors that give a boost to colony happiness, that could be another option.

RE: The future of Distant Worlds - Is DW2 necessary?

<t> Erik made mention over on the Steam forums that DW2 is a planned title they intend to work on. The way he worded it made it sound that it's not in actual development yet while they still support to the current DW. So DW2 will eventually be made. Honestly, I think it's sometimes better to come ...

RE: Colony pirate hideouts elimination

<t> Like Tehlongone said, pirates need influence to have even the option to build a pirate base. You can't see it when you play as an empire, but if you play as a pirate, each colony (doesn't matter who owns it) will have an influence rating from 0-100% divided amongst all pirates who have an active ...

RE: Any way to clean up objects in a long game?

I'm not certain, Tehlongone, but I believe they become abandoned. I say this because as my games become mature, I end up randomly finding "abandoned" civilian ships with the choice of taking them or leaving them. I assume they come from disbanded pirate factions.
