Re: Command War Planner: General Improvements and User Interface

Bravo on the Warplanner/Tiny Upgrade (can't call it just an "update)! Just the UI and ROI changes are already incredible, looking forward to your in-depth review of the engine changes.

Re: Command: Modern Operations - Falklands Out Now

Hello, I watched today's Twitch session of CMO - Falklands (today being Nov 30), where you played "The Empire Strikes Back" scenario. I was somewhat thoroughly amazed that 6 low-flying Harriers got downed in less than 60 seconds by BlowPipe MANPADS. These missiles were notoriously unreliable, among ...

@William:

Thank you for your detailed answer, makes sense. Congrats on getting Southern Storm to the finish line, and may the Debugging/MOL be kind to you. After all, this is also the start line of years of further dev, I'm looking forward to what y'all come up with!

Re: Open Letter to the Flashpoint Campaigns Community by Rob Crandall and Team

Huzzah indeed! Well worth the loooong wait, and thank you for communicating so openly with the Grognard Community along the way. Here we are at last and I can't wait for some "me" time tomorrow to start exploring the new simulation.

Re: Where's the Hype?!

Instabuy - but price tsk tsk tsk

I'm confused. US$60 is a lot of money? A burger + beer + tip is $20 around here at least, so Southern Storm = 3 Burger Runs, about right IMHO. Think how much effort went into this program, and that Matrix still takes a cut (publishing costs + paying back upfront ...

Re: The Flashpoint Campaigns Game FAQ

Thanks for the FAQ, well done and covers all the bases! Hopefully keeps some of the "noise" down as well. Good that you addressed cost. I, for one, don't think your retail price is out of line, but there's already some grumbling on these forums. Good that you addressed the issue head on.

Re: Flashpoint Campaigns Southern Storm - #4 Dev Log

Wow! Very deep, detailed Dev Log, thank you! I think most Grognards love "geeking out" and this feeds the need. A lot to wrap one's head around and I will need to re-read a few times. Keep up the great work!

Thank you for the answers, #3 makes sense. Start with Hasty Move, then refine... Looking forward to the game!

Re: Southern Storm Live Stream this Saturday the 29th

Thank you for the stream, enjoyed it very much! A Question/Observation along the same lines as @budd - From my viewpoint, you positioned your recce and screening units very well, however your main Mech and Armored Companies had very limited impact on the gameplay. Admittedly, for your first command ...

Re: Southern Storm Live Stream this Saturday the 29th

Nice! Please do show off the Scenario Builder - Battle Plans function. One question right off the bat, I see that you can set up various types of movement / offensive tasks (Deliberate, Hasty, etc), but can you set up defensive tasks? Contain, Secure, Isolate, Occupy, Canalize, etc? Hope you guys ...

How can you have a cold war era game set in 1989 West Germany without any British involvement ?

The British were up North... NORTHAG, British I Corps, basically around Hannover. CaptDarwin has written elsewhere that there will be DLC's eventually. Me and everyone else want to see the "classic ...

<t> "Time to Dance" is definitely a great scenario for truly understanding and ENJOYING the game. That is if you are an obsessive-compulsive nut job who enjoys beating head against wall, but aren't we all?<br/>

RE: Lua in Command tutorial 2

<t> Thank you ckfinite and DeSade (nice nick...)! Yeah, now that I have 1.06 loaded up it's pretty obvious that you cant use persistent values to trigger events. At least not directly, what I can see doing is nesting the PersistentKeyValue check within an action:<br/>

"if TRIGGER then ACTION ...

<t> Just took a quick look at "Downtown" in new update (hooray! love 1.06!). There are no new changes to the scenario, but the "twirl of death" is easily fixed - Set the USAF missions to have "RTB on WInchester" set to YES. That's under Mission Doctrine/ROE/EMCON in the Mission Editor and it's ...

Thank you very much for this tutorial, really going in-depth on what LUA can do for our scenarios. I thought that your using the "side points" and moving markers in and out of target areas were especially ingenious ways of triggering events. <br/>
