RE: RUNNING POLL - gameplay features

I'm running a scenario where I'm conducting air operations from an island to a group of island requiring aircraft to refuel above the sea midway there (Caribbean Crisis Showdown). I'd really like to see aircraft fuel status in group view.

Your soundtrack for Command?

Roll Tide from Crimson Tide is most approriate for Command and generally I play Hans Zimmer soundtracks from Spotify when playing. They have proper seriousness for Command. Would post direct link to "Roll Tide", but forum software says I don't have enough posts.

RE: Real doctrines to wage air/naval warfare?

<t> Just learned in Caribbean crisis that Venezuelan SAMs have an blind spot. Approached them from behind terrain, before launch go full throttle to release altitude and immediately after drop I order planes to the "deck". Destroyed the SSM site and no planes lost. My decoy/airway clearance patrol ...

RE: Real doctrines to wage air/naval warfare?

<t> As they say: A plan dissolves as soon as first contact is made. I just really do not know how I should use the stuff I have. In Caribbean Crisis - Showdown scenario I have a bunch of F-16s (some with bombs and others in air-to-air loadout) and some ships. By reading Sandy Woodwards book I know ...

RE: Real doctrines to wage air/naval warfare?

<t> I'm sorry, my statement "that if real tactics won't work, then Command has failed" was a maybe a bit harsh and out of proportion. Love the game so far. I was just trying to say that I'd like to test how the textbook approach works in a game aiming for realism. No disrespect meant for the devs or ...

I can't post links for a few days, but if you google "joint electronic library" there is overall US doctrine. Look in the 3-0 series for Operations. There is a "JEL+" link that says "certificate required" so it might work if you have a mil ...

RE: Real doctrines to wage air/naval warfare?

So, no links? I'd like specific information, but as I am a mortar-nco I wouldn't share if it wouldn't be public.

Real doctrines to wage air/naval warfare?

Is there any real guides on the Internet for waging air or naval assaults? Command's tutorials tell me the basic game mechanics, but I'd like to know what is the textbook approach to a air or naval operation. Propably real manuals are classified, but if there is any, I'd like to know.

RE: How to deal with AA (mainly with aircraft)?

Tasked 4 F-16 fighters to take out the SSM. Approach low and fast was successful until they rise to bomb release altitude and BUK locked, I lost 3 planes but got heavy damage on the BUK and SSM launcher was completely destroyed. So the amphibious operation by the task force is a go.

RE: How to deal with AA (mainly with aircraft)?

<t> Showdown scenario: So, I should send a few fighters to provoke AA and send bomb-equipped Falcons in force to take out the SSMs and accept some losses? I just hate being in charge of sending men to their deaths. [:(]<br/>

How to deal with AA (mainly with aircraft)?

<t> I have been playing Caribbean Crisis scenarios and in the Prelude Venezuelans have a BUK missile system sitting on the tip of peninsula that really ruins the day for my fighters and I have tried to blast it with cruise missile that couldn't lock. Next I tried to send rocket equipped Apaches from ...

RE: Best modern naval fiction?

<t> Not fiction but I have been reading Sandy Woodward's 100 days. From the point of view of Task Force Commander of Falklands conflictt it really slices all that there it is to it. Written with a real writer, so it is an easy read. Overall strategy, tactics, polticians interfering/hesitating ...
