RE: PBEM Game

It's a bug I guess. See the second thread "Unhandled exception has occured in your application."

RE: PBEM?

Already played two pbem games. Works fine. Could be technically optimized though (cheat protection etc.)

It seems you have to wait for a patch if you only have the steam version which pbem function seems to be bugged.

RE: How is this compared to Case Blue?

<t> Exactly my thoughts. The whole campaign is maybe too much for your taste. But don't hesitate if you're interested in a fresh approach for operational turn-based wargaming in sections of the Ardennes Offensive! The small and medium scenarios are already worth the money. I guess I already spent 30 ...

RE: Some Rules Questions

Out of curious I tested it: The landscape modifier in the combat odds calculator stays the same, no matter in which hex your arty is located.

RE: "Unhandled exception has occured in your application."

<t> I had the same problem. Plus I had the wrong German flags (similar to the French one) on the map again, which were already patched out.... <br/>

Thought it was maybe my mistake. I installed the Steam version (in another directory) before uninstalling the original version from Matrix ...

RE: Feeling more and more uncomfortable with the game

<t> From my own experience in this game, I understand your opinions and the reasons for disliking the game engine. But I get a totally different feeling from it. <br/>
<br/>
Those reasons (among others) you mentioned are the cause why I like the game. It's the first in the series I bought. And the ...

RE: Vigor-Readiness recovery bug??

From what I learned from the manual and from gameplay: Vigor/readiness recovery is dependent from supply level and it recovers less the more the value has already dropped.

Your data above seems to confirm these game rules.

RE: Scenario Elsenborn Ridge - Supply gone?

<t> I think it shouldn't be possible to destroy the supply SOURCE by conquering it (in contrast to a supply BASE/DEPOT). That effect is overpowered and feels like a cheat (especially if a small Greif team achieves that). Currently that means game over because your opponent is running out of supply ...

RE: Small scenario?

<t> Count me in if you like. I got the game in November and had a good time against the AI in the small and some medium scenarios. <br/>
<br/>
Now I'm getting really curious how I'll be doing against a good opponent. The small scenarios would be a nice place to start, especially West Wall and ...

RE: Suggestion wish list

<r> Overall, gameplay and atmosphere are great. I really like and recommend this game. It's a big improvement over older operational Bulge games. For me, it hits the nail. It reminds me a lot of the original "The Ardennes Offensive" game from SSG in 1996 or 1997 ("TAO2"), only better <E>:)</E><br ...

RE: Supply Routing

<r> And just because the depot adds many movement points the supply truck takes the 23 hexes detour down south and up north again to the 1SS Korps, instead of taking the short route (7 hexes along a major road) to 1SS Korps... just for fun? <E>;)</E><br/>

RE: March Mode too prohibitive?

I see it completely different. At least for the German side. There is a main reason to use march mode for movement to and behind the frontline: It saves those precious fuel reserves!

Of course in some smaller scenarios that doesn't really matters.

RE: Supply Routing

<t> There's a strange obstacle (very high movement cost) on the main road west of Stadtkyll. It effectively blocks the supply flow and troop movement too. That's the real problem there. <br/>

RE: Having a Kampfgruppe rejoin parent organization

<t> Splitting infantry bataillons into task forces is very helpful if you need flank protection for your armored spearhead and you have more space to cover than units available.<br/>
<br/>
When the threat is gone you can combine them again and to get better offensive strength out of them (at least ...

Wrong German flags on map

<r> Until now I've played only the West Wall scenario. Which is a blast by the way and would be a very good tutorial scenario! <br/>
<br/>
I wonder why the German flags on cities and villages look like the French flag. Is that a mistake in this scenario or on purpose? It doesn't feel good to ...
